This series is called the command of the week, but it could also explain a feature. The explanations will tend to explain the technical parts of the command, and is intended to highlight the basics (and complexities) of the command, and information about how to use it, but won't be a detailed tutorial. It is up to you to use it creatively in your maps.
Week 43 - Fill Style Selection Mask
When selecting a fill style in a dialog, such as the Edit Properties dialog, the list can get a little bit cluttered. This is because this list contains all the fill styles available in the map, regardless if they are Brush Patterns, Hatchings, Bitmaps, or symbol fills. Usually, you don't need all of those in the same map. The Fill Style Combo Mask command is used to clean up this list, and only display the fill styles you need.Where to find it?
Command Line: FSCOMBOMASKHow to use it?
Simply type the command on the command line and hit enter. This will pop up a dialog where you can select which kinds of fills you want to be displayed in the fill style dropdowns. Note that 'Solid' and 'Hollow' will always display, even if you disable brush patterns, since these are useful, also in maps that don't use the rest of the brush patterns.[Image_9528]
