Suggestions for Tweaking this Map
Try adding a new Glow to the WATER sheet, move it up to just below the Color Key and set it up like this.
You might have to adjust the extent of the water to take the edges outside the ribbon border so you don't get pale colours seeping in from the edge all around, but it should work. The drawback is that all the rivers will be that lighter blue.
I also really recommend moving that title back to the top corner where it was. There's a natural space for it there.

Grimdark Fantasy (renamed "Darklands") - development thread
Sometimes there are second parts for the same style, like there was for the Spectrum Overland style I did last year, but it is less common for there to be an overland/dungeon style pair.
There's a scale between those two things anyway - city scale. Going straight from Overland to Dungeon scale while completely missing out City scale doesn't make sense. And since doing 3 issues of 12 in exactly the same overall style would mean dedicating 1/4 of the entire annual to just one basic style (which not everyone will be interested in) this is very unlikely to happen.
However, if enough people show an interest in a grimdark dungeon style and can show me what this actually means... There was never really an actual style for Grimdark as far as I am aware, but only a sense of atmosphere... that could be something that might appear at some point in time.

[WIP] 1000th Map Competition: Elkton, Alarius North Central
I decided I didn't like the rocky stuff at the top of the map, so I replaced it with a stony bluff that probably marks the cap of the hill. This is a hill, after all, and not an actual mountain.
Don't worry about that unintentional pattern in the tundra plain. I'll be carving that up a bit later today.
I hope you like the experimental snow slump lines, Wyvern ;)

Why are Bitmaps so HUGE
If you use Draw -> Insert file, you can import the bitmaps and decide at that point how big they will be by the placement of the corners with the cursor.
CC then asks you for the first corner, and then the second corner. If you have a snap grid turned on you can put them down at any exact size you want.
I don't know if there are any settings you can alter for the result of drag and drop.

Live Mapping: Height Transitions in Dungeons and Caverns
Hi everyone! :)
This week, Ralf will be answering another topic request by taking a look at creating visual height differences in dungeon and cavern maps.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLgKmy3ooPY
All sessions are recorded (minus the chat), so if you miss the session you won't necessarily see what the questions were, but you can still see the video at a later date - either on Youtube or right here.

Live Mapping: Darklands City
Hi kevbeck :)
I did a 3-part blog about how to make parchment in GIMP here, but it's not seamless parchment. If you make large enough sheets of it you can use it as a background bitmap by importing the file.
I also did a blog about making seamless tiles in CC3 from CC3 symbols here.
Other than that, though, I haven't made seamless tiles in GIMP. I tend to use Krita a lot for a hand drawn feel. It has an endless plane on which you can draw anyting you like and it joins up with itself at the outside edges.
The other much older app I use has become abandonware, so on principle I no longer mention it in case anyone goes out and buys it and discovers the library of resource images is no longer there. I remember how irritated I was when someone else recommended an app that you could still pay for, but which never worked. I had to get my bank involved to get my money back!
Maybe you remember a blog that Joe Sweeney wrote, centred on the use of Filter Forge? This one perhaps?
Unfortunately, the library seems to have vanished, so the links no longer work. But Filter Forge is still around. It's useful, but not something I need for myself right now.
...
A general note about the Darklands City textures here, though.
It appears that Ralf did an expert job at uncovering a brand new (newly discovered) bug, live and right in front of you during the Live Mapping stream. Where the totally blank TERRAIN Grass sheet underneath the sheet he imported from my map called TERRAIN Grass 02, caused the transparency acne, even though there was nothing on it. If you hide that sheet, or delete its effects, the map works fine - as intended and designed.
It's on the bug list now...
