WIP: Latest Commission Maps
Hi Folks,
Here is a WIP of Map 3. The main temple for my latest commission. Usually, I just get sketches and a very brief art direction. This time, along with the sketches, the art direction is very detailed and I've also got the draft text - makes it both better and harder for me; I have some license to do what I want but I I'm expected to include more detail...
I'm thinking the circle on the outer ring would probably be better located bottom right... thoughts?
The yellow in the centre is meant to be the light coming in from the domed ceiling...

WIP: Kariss, Isle of the Purple Towns
Hi Folks,
Continuing with my mapping of Elric's Young Kingdoms I present my initial work on Kariss, the Isle of Purple Towns first, and some say only, capital. For the cities of The Isle of Purple Towns (and quite possibly all the cities in the YK), I'm sticking with CA25 Fantasy Cities.
I've had a bit of fun creating hatchure lines for the elevations which took up the majority of my time this evening.
The 1st pic shows with the reference bitmap, the second without. The hatchures aren't perfect but I think they'll suffice.

WIP: Menii, Capital of the Isle of Purple Towns
Hi All,
Here are a couple of pics of where I'm at with this. I'm using the Fantasy Cities style. The 1st shows my current progress, the 2nd my work with the original bitmap. Still quite a bit to do.
From what I can see, I think the original cartographer's scale is off...His scale bar shows 1 km which would make the buildings particularly large...(IMO)
I wasted a bit of time trying to use the cliff/rock bitmap fill from CA108 Battlemaps for the cliffs but couldn't get it looking good, so opted for just a light brown poly with darker, fractal lines which I think is a far better method and more in keeping with style.
