It might help to explode a couple of them and space them as single entities around those bends, so that the line of them is smoother.

Yes. I can identify with that as well. The thing about CC3 is that there are so many different ways of doing similar things that its relatively easy to forget things too.

If you have been following the recent trend in the Live Mapping sessions of working through the first ever Cartographer's Annual, you might find this thread interesting.

I decided to make a map in each of the styles as Ralf was working through them, so here are the first few. I missed out on the 3rd issue, but I'm working on it and it should be posted soon.

Issue 001 - Mercator. 2 maps - one original style, and one modified

Issue 002 - John Speed City. This is Dorchester, my county town, and one that was mapped by JS for real. This is my version of his map.

Issue 003 - Fantasy Tavern.

Issue 004 - Sarah Wroot. East Runia - a small map I created by scaling the new map by 0.5.

I will keep adding to this comment as we go, so that all the example maps are here in one place.

I think this may be the issue here.

How about making your hexes about 500 times larger than they are and extracting a series of regional maps from this one big one to add the relevant details?

I'm not sure how many hexes in a hex grid CC3 will reasonably support in a single map, but I'm pretty sure that is way too many right now.

I was still using 2.72 and bitmaps myself only a fortnight ago, so you caught up with my 15 years Blender experience in a few days ;)
