  • Sinister Sewers - Style Development Thread (CA207)

Someone on FB was interested in the fact that the drain connecting symbol could wind back on itself. Not sure how practical that is, but I added a second drain sheet and put a glow on it to cast a shadow on the drain below.

I've also made a connecting wall with a matching floor fill, and added in a few symbols.

    Hi Kevin :)

The best way to start is to absorb the information in the User Manual and work through the practical mapping exercise it contains. That establishes the basic uses of the software and should be enough for you to grasp the 'how to' of most things.

Then there are a huge number of video tutorials you can access here:

Also remember that if you get stuck and don't want to spend days trying to find just exactly the right bit of the right video, you can ask a question right here on the forum.

  • Cannot delete layer

You could try selecting by layer?

Pick the delete tool and right click in the window, then pick Layer. You will be prompted for the name of the layer in the command line. Once you have entered the layer name on your keyboard you should then see in the command line how many entities are on that layer.

Best to check what they are before you go ahead and delete them, though.

  • Of large and small maps

Remy Monsen wrote a blog explaining the process here:

I'm also quite sure he did a Live Mapping session on the same subject, but I'll have to go find it and come back to add it later.

I found one by Ralf. Maybe it was this one I was thinking of...

  • Which is the best Template for a Game of Thrones Overland map and City Map?

Don't worry about asking too many questions, Tako. There are never too many questions.

And that was my main answer.

I'm sorry - I did search for the 'official Game of Thrones map' and various other combinations of those words, but I didn't find anything that was some kind of bone fide official map to get an idea of what you want. Instead I got all kinds of very different variations of the same land masses done in hundreds of different styles. So maybe if you could provide a link to the one you regard as being the definitive map I might have a better idea of what you are looking for.

I suggest a hyperlink to the ideal map because every one of these maps are copyright to the artist and should not be reposted here on the forum without their permission.
