  • Increase detail level on sections of FT3 map

Sadly, you can't reverse the import directly. When you export a map to CC3 you lose all the 2.5D height information, so the best you can do is use the outline as a pattern overlay to re-sculpt your island a little larger than it was before

Alternatively, you can zoom in to the island and export that alone as a CC3 map. FT3 will export whatever is visible in it's window at the time of export and nothing more. It should give you a much higher resolution CC3 map of the island.

  • Random City Generator

    That's good :)

The walls and towers could be done the same way as the roads but you have chosen to go with symbols, which is fine.

  • Grimdark Fantasy (renamed "Darklands") - development thread

Darn. I must have all growed up a bit too much.

  • WIP: Manor house (problem with walls)

I am not sure I fully understand what you mean about changing it all into lines.

If you mean that it turned everything into zero width lines, then using Change Properties to give them back their line width should have worked fine.

Anyway! I'm glad you got it all sorted out :)

  • Vincula, the City of the Mountaingate

Increasing the strength of the shadow?

You've got it mostly ok already, but just imagine that you have laid the mountain down on its side like a gigantic fallen chess piece. the shape of it represents the shadow it might cast. You might see that there are more jagged bits at the top of the shadow.

  • [WIP] Cliff City B&W

    That looks better.

The new cliffs seem to be needing some kind of cap to them, like the rocks the city is on, to stop the shadows showing where they should not. I would treat them just the same as the rocks the city is on in all respects.

  • Recommendations for a mapping set/settings to use for a large snow-covered city?

The fills associated with any particular style only usually load automatically with that style, so you would not expect to be able to access DD3 fills when you have created a map in one of the CD3 styles.

Remy Monsen shows how to import specific fills from other styles into your current map individually in this Live Mapping Session here:

There are other ways of importing fills too. If you just want the whole set from another style into your current map you can either import a map in the other style and press ESC at the moment you are invited to paste it, or you can use Import Bitmap Fill Styles in the Tools menu. The first option is faster if you only want to import the fills from one other style. The second option is faster if you want to import all the fills from several different other styles.

An important thing to note here is that importing the fills only gets you the fills, not the drawing tools of the other style. If you also want the drawing tools to go with your imported fills you will need to pick them from the Drawtools style dropdown box at the top of the Drawing presets dialog (which opens when you click the Drawing Properties button |CC2PRESETS|on the top toolbar)

EDIT: Ninjad by Remy, but we seem to have worked together without realising it :)

  • Hello! I am DoubleDouble

    Hello DoubleDouble :)

There are all kinds of mappers here so don't worry about being 'too anything'. By that standard I, with my relatively weak technical skills, would be too arty :)

  • Hello

    Hello Nevermet :)

Sounds like you have a nice clear view of what you want to achieve. I'm looking forward to it.

  • WIP: Lost Temple of Ankun-za Level 2

I was once told that it was good to have a decent area to fight in. I don't know how true that was, but the gamer who wanted more space to play around in was very satisfied with my modifications, which meant I had one reasonably large room.

What is the scale here? Some indication would be good. Either a grid or a little white square to show 5 or 10 ft square.
