  • weird line

That would work, but you have to get exactly the right one, and that's not easy.

If you use SIMPLIFY and tap in a nice small value when prompted (which is in map units and can be a fraction if you like), you can remove all the nodes that are closer than that distance together. Sometimes you might need to undo and try again with a smaller distance, but it should undo if you press CTRL+Z. Better save the file first, though, in case it doesn't.

EDIT: I've just thought! If you have a multipoly there you will need to explode it once first to break it into polygons and then re-multipoly it again afterwards.

  • Post-processing Map to Age It

    Ah. Sorry!

You will have to switch DELAYDRAWSYM to 0 (zero) before it works. Type the command on your keyboard and press return, then enter 0 when you see the command line response. Then refresh.

  • Free symbol pack - Tentacles

The reason that Resource thread is closed is to stop it becoming unweildy to look for assets between all the comments that might otherwise appear between the different packs. When I make the next pack there will be a new comment on that closed thread where you can download the assets and a new 'more info' thread for that new pack.

  • WIP - Tomb of Shadows

I think I prefer the textured one. It does something to fill the gaps between the rooms where there are some quite large ones.

The place to use plain solid backgrounds is when there are no large gaps.

  • Moving objects in front of or behind in same sheet.

    Something I didn't know...

The way symbols with some transparency are drawn is different to the way symbols with no transparency are drawn. One of the smoke symbols (the one we both had trouble with) has some transparency and that's why we couldn't get it to come to the front.

The best solution is the new sheet option in this case. As was pointed out to me it's probably best that the smoke doesn't have the same sheet effects as the bushes anyway.

  • Can anyone help me figure out what this awesome map style is?

Looks very similar to the 1930s Overland Map style from the 2013 Cartographer's Annual.

  • a magic? map

    Oh sorry! :)

I'm so used to people asking serious questions it just went and zipped straight over my head.

A simple case of over-zealous help instinct :P

  • Having trouble with settings

You have to click Apply to see the result.

And yes - most of the terrain sheets have the same issue.

The difference between those two settings is that the Percent of View Width is really huge at '10'. That's 10% of the width of your window. If you set 10 map units thats just 10 miles rather than possibly a few thousand miles.

  • resizing mapping area

Im thinking that I might have misunderstood the question. Are you drawing a fractal polygon using a drawing tool or the fractal polygon tool on the right? Or are you fractalising an existing line? Are the corners the nodes that stick out from the line?

  • Live Mapping: 1930s Street Maps

    Hi everyone! :D

This week, Ralf will be creating a map with the Baedecker-inspired 1930s Street Maps style from the Cartographer's Annual Vol 5.
