  • [WIP] 1000th Map Competition: Elkton, Alarius North Central

I've been a bit busy doing DD4 things, but I'm going to take a few breaks this week/next week to map Elkton for the competition.

The map notes for Alarius are that it is a continent of high fantasy and magic. I'll have to see what I can do to capture that kind of atmosphere. Elkton is one of the most northerly settlements, so there are bound to be a few legends from the cold dark north.

That's a nicer font, but it still looks quite spidery.

How about making the labels a little larger, or using the bold version of the font?

Do you have a drop shadow on that sheet? It may not be helping.

You could also try making the glow a little more definite?

    These are all just suggestions.

  • Live Mapping: Height Transitions in Dungeons and Caverns

    Hi everyone! :)

This week, Ralf will be answering another topic request by taking a look at creating visual height differences in dungeon and cavern maps.

All sessions are recorded (minus the chat), so if you miss the session you won't necessarily see what the questions were, but you can still see the video at a later date - either on Youtube or right here.

  • Annual Darklands fill question

    Thanks :)

I did a quick sampler of all the forest and woodland drawing tools with the tool names shown for identification.

The trees from Darklands are quite dark compared to other styles, so you won't get any lighter trees than the jungle ones.

I think you might have the blurred FOREST SHADOWS sheet above the FOREST* sheets (above in the map - below in the list). That would cause the blurring seen in your shot. Check to make sure the sheets are in the right order.

As for the drawing tools themselves, the forest ones all seem to be in order, but the last two woodlands drawing tools seem to have a higher than expected density. I don't know if this is intended or not.
