    Julian is right about the 2 part annuals. It's not actually possible to do all the work in one issue due to the time limitation. Even though the style is done in two halves it doesn't make sense to generate 2 separate folder systems and two separate templates when its all the one style.

    I don't recall the two parts of MD ever being sold separately. If an annual is done in 2 parts those two parts must be part of the same annual. It wouldn't be fair to expect someone to buy 2 annuals just because they happen to like that one style.

    You can solve the white background by putting the symbols behind the parchment and using a Blend mode effect on the parchment set to Multiply and 100%. This is how the parchment version of SS6 was done.

    The white parts of the symbols are to obscure the bits of other symbols that might appear through them.

    These symbols all have white backgrounds, but the parchment is multiplied over the top of the entire map.

  • Does RGB Matrix Process work on Symbol Sheets?

    It's mainly to do with the drawing order.

    Symbols are by default drawn twice to ensure the semi-transparent pixels are not detrimentally affected by the sheet effects. However, the whole map effects are done last of all, and will affect the whole drawing, no matter how many times everything has been drawn up to that point.

    You can disable the second drawing of the symbols using DELAYDRAWSYM, but this will damage semitransparent pixels in the symbols. You might not think there are a lot of semitransparent symbols but in truth the edge of nearly all symbols is antialiased, so there will always be a very thin fringe missing, and that may be enough to make the symbol look odd.

    DELAYDRAWSYM automatically reverts to 1 next time you open CC3.

    Having said all of that there are notable exceptions to the rule. Most house symbols will respond to colour modifying sheet effects because of the presence of map files, which control the shading of rooftops. City Cliff symbols also have map files, and will also respond to these effects.

    Hi Bruce :)

    It all looks good, though I recommend reducing the node count a bit by using the keyboard command SIMPLIFY with a setting of 0.5.

    You currently have 5228 nodes in the mainland object. While this isn't too many once you have traced a few terrain fills around the edge of it, or added a coastline (bascially a duplicate of the land but on the COASTLINE sheet), you might start to notice a bit of lag going on when you zoom or pan.

    That one action reduced the number of nodes from 5228 to 1493, which would give you a lot more wiggle room if you intend to be quite lavish with the terrain tools.
