  • Reinstalling - query re Symbol Set 3 modern & Cosmographer Pro

    Since you already own the older versions it might be an idea to contact Profantasy and ask if there is any upgrade price. Since I wasn't around when they were upgraded I don't know if there were or were not.

    Try the 'General Manager' on the Contacts page. That's Ralf. He will know if there was any reduced price upgrade and if it still applies.

    EDIT: He might be a couple of days getting back to you, though, since he's currently at Gen Con.

  • Installing ProFantasy Software on New Computer

    CC3 and CC3+ are completely separate.

    A fresh download is always better than an old installer.

    When you've downloaded everything start by installing CC3+, the latest CC3+ update, then the main add ons (DD3, CD3 etc), and then the rest in no particular order. Finish up by re-running the latest CC3+ update.

    If an installer is set to open CC3+ at the end of it's run by default, let it do so, but close it down again before running the next installer. Never run an installer while CC3+ is open.

    Shout if you have any issues.

    EDIT: a bit more clarity on the difference between CC3 and CC3+. CC3 is now obsolete and no longer supported. Most of the add ons will no longer work with it, having been updated to work with CC3+

    I don't think symbols that have map files to control the roof shading are redrawn. So they are affected by the sheet effects. You can also use Color Key and other sheet effects on them. Color Key can be quite useful to make ruins by cutting holes in the roofs.

    It's because the symbols on each sheet are redrawn after the sheet effects are applied. However, the whole map effects are applied right at the very end of the rendering process - after all the redrawing has been done.

    If you want to cancel that redrawing use the keyboard command DELAYDRAWSYM and enter zero as the value instead of 1. This only lasts for the session and has to be repeated for each session.

    While DELAYDRAWSYM = 0 may get you what you want with the symbols, it can cause issues with any semitransparent parts of the symbols. They disappear. So this is not a good thing to do to a style like Marine Dungeon (for example) which has many seaweed symbols that are partly translucent.
