I've been updating some of the maps for my AD&D campaign and came across a couple that with only a bit of tweaking will work for the atlas. I would like to reserve the towns of Basti and Malva on Alarius: Southern Scar.
I've updated the security settings on the server hosting the atlas. Please let me know if anyone have a problem accessing the atlas over HTTPS after this change. I am aware that some old/outdated equipment will no longer work, but I hoe it won't affect the equipment you guys actually use.
Well, we have the dungeons for the Temple of the Unholy but don't have the temple itself. I'd like to reserve the surrounding grounds and exterior of the temple as one map, and the temple interior as a second map.
I am working one creating a map of a town that I think should be able to fit into the world, specifically on Galahais. I'll post a screen snap of the location.
I have named the city "Yartar" since I am using it in my Princes of the Apocalypse game. Is it a problem to keep a Forgotten Realms name on it? I can rename it if Yartar is not kosher.
Also, I have a name for the river it is on, I don't see one on the area map. Should that type of named object be coordinated with the parent's map owner? If so, how do I find him/her. On a related note, I'd love to have the adjacent cities named so I could mark roads out of "Yartar" with those names.
I'm thinking I will just create a layer for atlas names and a layer for Faerun names so they can be changed with just a layer flip and keep the same map.
I'm not clear on the copyright status of individual names, but given I think it is best to avoid directly copying names form other campaign settings. As you say, changing the names are pretty easy anyway.
I know that I have two maps reserved currently for the Temple of the Unholy but I wanted to do a quick map using Sue's new annual so am requesting this area on Alarius.
Yes, you can do that. You retain full rights to your own maps, and can do whatever you want with them (Well, except grant exclusive rights to someone else I guess). Feel free to link directly to specific maps in the atlas if required, the permalinks are shown below each map to the right (but do link to the map pages, not directly to the images).
No worries. Thanks Monsen. I''m much more comfortable working at dungeon scale but I need to work on my overland and city scale maps so this will be a good challenge for me. I'll most likely do it in the basic B Bitmap style...There will most likely be a dungeon map linking to the mines as well but one map at a time...
The atlas have now served over 1 terrabyte of data. This includes downloads of the atlas and high res images, as well as online map views and some misc stuff.
The atlas has had a slow but steady growth curve over the years. Remember, it is useful to non-CC users as well, so don't be afraid to advertise it in communities you think could benefit from it.
This is great news. I'm glad that more people are downloading and hopefully making use of our maps. I've used a number of them myself and find this a really useful time saver. I'm really grateful for all of the work everyone has put into this project.

Ah, Moroni Range further up the map. But these are separate mountains, I'll start a new thread and add the dungeon map into it later.

I'd like to reserve the town of Blackrock on the Loska Environs map, see below.
Regarding licensing; can I write and publish an adventure that uses my maps only with a link to the atlas for folk who want to adventure elsewhere?
