Well, upon my first and second looks I did not equate the map to a living person. Only after ScottA's comment did I connect the map with a person.

A sad day. Jim was very good as well as being prolific. He gave me some inspiration.

Here is a region of Germany where I served. The first one shows the area without contour lines. The little symbols are for coniferous and deciduous trees.

And here I turned on brown contour lines.

Probably not much help, but I like to make large maps as well. I find sometimes the software fails during printing to CutePDF, but after a while, CutePDF opens and displays the map.

I usually have a lot of applications up while working on a map. When I see a slow down I start closing ones that are not critical and if the problem continues I shut everything down, power down and boot up, then just run CC3+ as Jim states. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. My computer is pretty old now, so maybe I need a new one.

Indeed. During the US Civil War, newspapers included those blue/red pencils in the north at least so readers could color in maps as battles progressed. Blue was for the United States Army and Red was for the Confederate States Army.
