  • [WIP] August Competition - The Southern Gatehouse

Not too fond of the crosshatch, looks a bit weird IMHO.

I'm not 100% convinced either, tbh. Luckily, I placed them in a layer of their own, so I can turn them off easily (at least while I think it through).

Maybe blur would do the trick?

Also, looks a bit weird that the direction of the paving stones doesn't follow the direction of the wall, maybe angle them slightly to follow the wall direction.

    ...

Could you align the paving stones on the top of the city wall walkways with the wall itself left and right of the towers? This should be possible by making them "Shade Only Copy" shaded polygons aligned to the outer edge.

Yeah, that's kind of in the bucket list. I don't know if I'll be able to finish on time.

Oh, and the city walls are not a polygon. They're a line. A very thick line. With an outline. And since there's no such thing (I think) as a shaded line, I'd have to redraw them. Not the most complicated thing, but I am short on time. Hopefully next weekend I can spare a couple hours to sit down and draw.

Is it intentional to have the larger street-sized paving stones inside the two gate rooms at street level?

    Yes? At least originally.

I'm not sold either. It seemed reasonable when I first sketched it, but it does seem a bit weird.

    Got it.

Not on my computer right now, but I removed the image from my previous post.

  • Question: How to load more fill styles

CC3+ has a ton of features, and many ways to accomplish different goals.

There's also a ton of resources to get yourself familiarized with CC3+: one of them is the FAQs like you said, the help files within CC3+, there are a few PDF manuals that should be on your PC when you installed CC3+, there are a few technical posts in the blog, there's the official youtube channel, and of course there's this forum.

And with so much information, some times the best place to start is to ask for pointers right here in the forum. :)

You'll find there's a lot of helpful people here, willing to help you out.

  • Can the monthly content for 2021 still be downloaded? Where can I find the link please?

IIRC, all the previous monthlies are included in the latest update.

So if you have version 3.98 installed, you should already have all the 2021 content installed.

Didn't like any of the border attempts I made.. Guess I'll leave it without a border.

Then again, we could call it a white border, right?

I'm running out of time, and I still want to "fix" a few small details (that probably aren't even visible in the image above, once the forum downscales it), but I'll fix them anyway.

There's still several other tweaks I'd like to do. Let's see how much I can accomplish.

  • Importing my Traveller Sector Data in Cosmographer

    Hi Egavactip, and welcome!

I still consider myself fairly new to CC3+ and Cosmographer, so maybe someone else will point out errors or misconceptions of my own.

[...] Cosmographer doesn't really come with a real manual.

There is a guide, thought I can't tell if you haven't found it yet or if you find it too short to answer your questions. In case it's the former, you should find it in the Documentation folder in your Program Data folder. In my case it's at:

    "C:\ProgramData\Profantasy\CC3Plus\Documentation\Cos3EssentialsGuide.pdf"

Moving on to your main question, I do believe the "Traveller Sector Import" wizard currently only works by fetching data from travellermap.com, as explained in a sidebar on page 18 of the guide:

    Available Sectors

Cosmographer 3 retrieves the world data from the the Travellermap.com website. Therefore you need an active internet connection for the data import to work.

If you want to place all symbols yourself (manually) you can still use the templates named "Cosmographer Sector Vector" or "Cosmographer Sector Bitmap".

But, if you want to skip all of the tedium of placing everything by hand, I'll yield to see if someone else knows if it's possible. I vaguely recall someone mentioning what it would take, but a quick search didn't yield anything resembling that idea on the back of my mind. And since I'm also fairly new to Traveller, I haven't delved into custom sector building.

    Finally...

    I have sector data.

In what format do you have this data?

    EDIT: Regarding this question:

[Also also, it is possible to generate fractal world maps with the Traveller map format?]

I found this two year old comment from JimP:

In FT3 I use the File menu -> Export World -> Cosmographer template. The export is a CC3 map with png. Place at the top says 'World Name' and at the bottom for UWP.

To be fair, most of the maps I've used in games are not made by me. But I have been trying to keep doing something in CC3+ as often as I can.

  • Community Atlas: Dendorlig Hall - A Sort-Of D23 Dungeon for Nibirum

While this list won't be complete, these are the random dungeon generators I've become familiar with in recent times. I'm sure others here can suggest alternatives

    Challenge accepted! 😁

This is my (current) take on procedural dungeon generation. Forever a "work in progress" it seems (haven't touched it in a long time). I've had so much fun creating it, perhaps someone else has fun using it:

I also keep a hand-curated list of generators (which hasn't been updated in ages) here: http://rpg20.com/about.php#dungeon

Yours is another fun dungeon generator, and one that for some obscure reason hadn't come up among my Google searches previously.

I don't know why it doesn't show up anywhere. Well, other than me not doing a single thing for SEO. :)

It's always been more of a playground than a proper webpage. But it kinda works. And there's a couple of things there that no other generator does. So I keep it online.

Looking through the list you have there (for random dungeons only), I note several links are broken now, and one of the sites that still exists, Dizzy Dragon's, isn't an "https" site, which sometimes get flagged or blocked by certain browsers/browser settings now. Might be worth reviewing and amending the whole page now?

    Yeah. I know. I should do that. (soon-ish) ;)
