As bloody usual, my final map isn't. I was never thrilled with the water fill at this scale. Even scaling it up, it looked unsatisfactory. So, as I'm creating my 'own style' based on this annual, which takes its fills from the Jonathon Roberts, dungeon and city styles, I thought I'd import his overland and Midgard fills to see how they looked. Below is the result, this is The Midgard version and I'm much happier with its overall appearance.

A bit of an update...need to tweak a couple of things but this is essentially done. One more map to go and that's a city map...

Here are a couple of pics of where I'm at with this. I'm using the Fantasy Cities style. The 1st shows my current progress, the 2nd my work with the original bitmap. Still quite a bit to do.

From what I can see, I think the original cartographer's scale is off...His scale bar shows 1 km which would make the buildings particularly large...(IMO)

I wasted a bit of time trying to use the cliff/rock bitmap fill from CA108 Battlemaps for the cliffs but couldn't get it looking good, so opted for just a light brown poly with darker, fractal lines which I think is a far better method and more in keeping with style.

Thought I'd have some fun and re-do an old map for practice. This map started as challenge over on the cartographers guild and went through several iterations before being revised again for my first published adventure, an entry in the 2017 One Page Dungeon contest.

@Loopysue provided some great feedback through the whole process as did one or two others (not members here as far as I know).

I may or may not do more on this as I have several other projects on the go at the moment and I really should focus on sorting those out... anyhow, here it is.

Well, I'm finally finished Level 1, only levels 2, 3 & 4, the city map and regional map to go.

I'm glad I do this primarily for fun and enjoyment (not to mention having some really goods map I can use?) and not for the money.

Thank you all for your encouragement, support and advice. This map is as much yours as it is mine because it would not look anywhere near as good without your input.

For those that are interested, the hieroglyphs are actually a pro-bono message, not just decoration.

Not that much to do now; a couple of blocks, labelling create some Points Of Interest (Keepers only) make some minor adjustemnts here and there to tidy things up and it'll be just about done.

I know there are a couple of minor errors with the paths on the 'Eastern' side but other than that, thoughts?
