@DaltonSpence your wish is my command...

When I get home, I'll scan the sketch with labels for our actual rooms.

  • Community Atlas 500th Map Voting Thread - Please vote

Here, here. Excellent job everyone! You made voting extremely difficult, there are some extremely good maps to choose from.

I'm a little dissapointed I didn't get to finish my map in time even though compared to many of the entries it is much simpler. Maybe next time.

    An update.

Unless there are any suggestions for how to improve this map I think it's done!

  • Call of Cthulhu Campaign Maps

The annuals provide some great styles; Par Lindstrom's, Moody Mansions, Modern Journeys (overland), Horror House & Cthulhu City, the 1800's floorplans, the 1930's street map and overland map, Dracula Dossier, Early Modern City. Not to mention, o I won't, the Wild West style if you're playing Deadland SW or Down Darker Trails (Cthulhu). Plenty to keep you busy!

Here's a bit of an update...

I tried using the block building building tool with a colour key effect to 'cut out' the gaps etc, I'm not 100% happy with the big residential block but the industrial block looks ok, I think.

Taking @Wyvern's comments into consideration, the ground level of this complex is done.

  • Quick(?) Ambush Battle Map

    Hi Folks,

Being a fairly lazy person, for one of the games I'm currently running via Roll20 & Discord (video/voice) I needed to set up an ambush on a road. I used the Forest Path Battlemap from the Collection but then things went beyond that map, so I chucked on another one that was completly different and found myself running this encounter on 2 separate maps, which, as any of you using Roll20 would know, is a right royal PITA. So I knocked this up today for my game tomorrow night.

It's large and not too pretty but will do the job I think. I'm using the "Cliff" fill as rocky outcrops...

Edit: I realised when I was setting it up in Roll20, I forgot to turn off the construction lines for the ruined building and I needed an obstacle to prevent those near the crossroads seeing around the bend...

  • Commission WIP!

    Hi,

The last map I need to do for this commission (which is actually due tomorrow but that won't be happening...) is a city map. I sent the publisher a sample of the Darklands City map and they liked the style - the issue is the map is huge. It's 3600x2880 meters. I already had the basic shape - based on the authors sketch, I've put the major roads and bridges in and tonight I've started filling in the map district by district. I've partially done one district and to my eye, it looks bloody horrible. Obviously I'll need to vary the terrain fills a little...

Here's what I've got so far. The large body of water on the bottom of the map is a large river with a smaller tributary flowing in. I'm getting the feeling I've picked the wrong style for such a large map. The final image will be a full page US Letter, the attached is cropped to an aspect ratio of 11"x8".

    Suggestions thoughts?

  • Commission WIP!

@Fersus In response to your question re commissions.

It started a couple of years ago. There was a monthly challenge over at the Cartographers Guild to build a random dungeon, after some fairly ordinary efforts, I re-did it, wrote up some adventure text to go with and submitted it as a One Page Dungeon entry, The Crypt of the Witch King or Who's Your Mummy. There is a CC3+ version in the Old School dungeon style in my gallery. Anyhow, fast forward a bit, and I pitched an idea to the publisher of Mythras, my preferred FRPG, to produce one-shot adventures like the Savage Worlds One Sheets, I also mentioned that I do cartography and submitted my OPD entry as a sample. That led to some commissions for their Classic Fantasy line, primarily B&W old-school style dungeon maps. I've done a couple of other projects for them as well and I've been doing all their CF stuff since (you can see the latest in my Commissions album, the Ancient Tombs style). This is by far the largest city I've undertaken - and if I get others, which I think is likely given conversations I've had with the CF line manager, I will be charging a lot more, I can tell you! So that's it. All of my commissions, apart from a private one that I've yet to complete (sorry Allan!), have been for them. They are great to work for and very professionally run.

  • WIP: Brimstone Keep

Further to the above. I'm also working on the opening adventure of a modern era campaign (serialised) for Pulp Cthulhu. The inspiration for this is Matthew Reilly's, Jack West Jnr series of novels and movies like The Kingsman franchise. The climax of the adventure will take place in Pnakotus (?) the Yithian City in outback WA from Lovecraft's, The Shadow Out of Time story.

Any suggestions for a good style to do something like the below?
