I have put some effort into studing how a medieval town should be structured. Many businesses and professions are noisy, smelly or require lots of room.

So I placed those away from the town proper.

I also used the random city generator. To quickly get the basic shape, and then rearranged to add additional roads as the river. It is good up to 600 buildings or so, but can't go higher.

To date the final map I have completed, or almost compiled is Lawah. A town in the Mysty Fern Woods. Finally it also includes a writeup.

Apparently the import from Fractal terrains used a custom palette. I missed that.

Here is Eshana. it has been settled for over 2000 years, but was torn apart 200 years ago. The high-res file has an export to a poster sixed map at 300 dpi.
