Oh. All my reports above were with the FRIA viewer. I tried opening 4890 skuld again, but this time with CC3+ and no problems either (Win8 here).

But I do recall there used to be a pre-1368 map with more details (perhaps one of the updates removed/replaced such map)

    Apparently not.

Seems like my memory played tricks on me. At least for the Zhentil Keep map. I dug up my printout and it seems it's the same map as the one in update3 (with the wards layer hidden):

    @Don V Anderson Jr. ..

I opened the spreadsheet and it had no colours. I'll try on my other laptop.

That's strange. Perhaps you saw the first sheet/tab instead of the one named "roflo1"?

No matter, I have a minor update:

    Also...

However, turns out The Board does not allow ODS attachments. So trying XLSX and see?

OpenOffice should allow exporting to XLSX. Google sheets also allows exporting to XLSX.

Speaking of which, I'm now working on Google Sheets so I can edit online from different places. If any of you want live access, please send me a DM.

Anyway, on to the "what's new" section... I wasn't happy about having to inspect visually the differences between 2 maps, but I figured out a way to do it. Basically: a) open in CC3+, b) Info->List->All, c) copy all to clipboard, and d) compare with WinMerge.

It's cumbersome, but precise. I decided to start at the top: with 0030 Temple of Selune.FCW. I discovered update1 is not ok (points to wrong/outdated parent map) so we should use the one from update2 or onwards (I added a "cherry-pick" column to the sheet, where I'll write down which map is the best one to keep when there are multiple versions). While at it, I also discovered that Moonshae Island.fcw has the same entities as Viledel's Isle.fcw (from upadate2 onward); so links to Moonshae Island.fcw should be avoided. Finally, Viledel's Isle.fcw from update2 has the same entities as the one in update3.

Since we can't legally share the maps among us... My guess is, you'd still have to install each update, one at a time. On each stage, you'd have to create a copy of the cherry-picked maps (except now you'd have a list of which to keep on each update), and then copy them back when you're done.

For future installs, if you keep a copy of your cherry-picked folder, you could just jump to update3 and overwrite them.

Best I can come up with so far.

Yes, they do open correctly, but the "parent" links to B1cNWlc instead of High Moor.

I.e.: they link to the parent of the parent map.

What what and what. I installed off of CD, Cherry picked all the correct maps, updated each in order 1 - 2 - 3. I don't understand why the early one works and the older one doesn't, ARG so frustrating.

Sorry to hear that. At least you're no longer derailed?

Making an XP is sounding more and more interesting.

On a positive note, at least I correctly worked out were those links were supposed to be!!!!

    Yes you did!

Here's my process, and attached spreadsheet. I'm currently working on step fifteen while I make myself decide whether I want to try and figure out XP to harvest all the link data or do it manually until I get tired of doing it and figure out XP anyway.

Sort of on the same page.

I did download the XPlibs and compiled the cdxptest example today. I don't know how much I'll be able to dedicate to it (so.. no ETA), but at least the tools are in place.

Not too fond of the crosshatch, looks a bit weird IMHO.

I'm not 100% convinced either, tbh. Luckily, I placed them in a layer of their own, so I can turn them off easily (at least while I think it through).

Maybe blur would do the trick?

Also, looks a bit weird that the direction of the paving stones doesn't follow the direction of the wall, maybe angle them slightly to follow the wall direction.

    ...

Could you align the paving stones on the top of the city wall walkways with the wall itself left and right of the towers? This should be possible by making them "Shade Only Copy" shaded polygons aligned to the outer edge.

Yeah, that's kind of in the bucket list. I don't know if I'll be able to finish on time.

Oh, and the city walls are not a polygon. They're a line. A very thick line. With an outline. And since there's no such thing (I think) as a shaded line, I'd have to redraw them. Not the most complicated thing, but I am short on time. Hopefully next weekend I can spare a couple hours to sit down and draw.

Is it intentional to have the larger street-sized paving stones inside the two gate rooms at street level?

    Yes? At least originally.

I'm not sold either. It seemed reasonable when I first sketched it, but it does seem a bit weird.

    Got it.

Not on my computer right now, but I removed the image from my previous post.

  • Question: How to load more fill styles

CC3+ has a ton of features, and many ways to accomplish different goals.

There's also a ton of resources to get yourself familiarized with CC3+: one of them is the FAQs like you said, the help files within CC3+, there are a few PDF manuals that should be on your PC when you installed CC3+, there are a few technical posts in the blog, there's the official youtube channel, and of course there's this forum.

And with so much information, some times the best place to start is to ask for pointers right here in the forum. :)

You'll find there's a lot of helpful people here, willing to help you out.
