Dhakos, The City of Spires - Watabou Cities Annual
Another update.
I started to put the fields in (NW Quadrant). I liked the look with the furrows but I don't think it's worth the time to manually draw them so I opted for hedgerows and fills with a bumped up Edge Fade and Transperancy effect.
Finished separating the existing building blocks, added a title, dirt background to the inner city and put some grass in. I played around with some blend modes for the Buildings sheet and some of them looked really good - except for where I'd put the grass, I wasn't to careful there and just drew a smooth polygon under the buildings - kind of gave a more hand painted look. I may re-visit that by re-doing the grass only in the openings, we'll see. Good thing I'm in no hurry with this one... Cities, to do well are time-consuming beasts...
Admittedly, this could have been much easier/quicker if I'd realised how to save the Watabou export as an SVG (which I do now)...

Dhakos, The City of Spires - Watabou Cities Annual
HI Folks,
Trying this out in Jonathon Roberts, style. Not sure how this is going to work. Anyhow, here is an intial WIP.
Generated a Watabou City as a PNG (It's changed a lot...couldn't figure out how to save it as an SVG) trimmed and flipped it in Affinity Photo then exported as a jpeg and inserted it into my drawing. Note: This is only a guide.
The map is 2300m x 2050m. That black line on the top most harbour arm is a wall - which needs a bit of TLC.

Jim Abbott aka Damon Jynx or Rikki Grosevale
Not really, as I rarely host now, apart from on Roll20. When we get together F2F we generally play at one of the other player's house as it's a bit more central - our group is spread over a 30-40km or thereabouts radius. She does however like to interrupt Rose or I when we're doing something other than paying her attention. For example, when I was working from home during lockdown, I had my work laptop setup on the games table and she would often lie between me and the keyboard and want to play at the most inopportune times. The chap whose house we normally play at has 2 cats and one of them likes to join in occasionally.

Fractal Coastlines CC3 Hex Overland
Hi Y'all,
Due to the recent discussions re hex maps, I decided to modify the CC3 Overland Hex style to enable fractal coastlines and islands.
Here's what I did:
- Changed the sheet order, moving the sea sheets between the Symbol Hex and Borders sheets, added a color key effect and inside glow effect to the sea sheet.
- Created 2 new drawing tools; a Sea, default fractal and an Island, default fractal.
Here is the .FCW file so you can see exactly what I've done.

Commission WIP
Thanks @Monsen.
I think it was the Edge Fade, Inner effect being too large.
Here is an updated update?
I think I need to increase the opacity on the river now...

The 'No Ducks' version 2 dungeon
Depends on the VTT. Roll20 for example has a standard grid of 70px per (5ft) square, as JimP's are 10ft, he would need to save the file as a jpeg at 11200x6720 (140px per square), he could also halve it and set Roll20's grid to 35px per square. It's been awhile since I used Maptools and I've not used Fantasy Grounds or Foundry so no idea what their recommended sizes are.

Using ProFantasy Software for A Commercial Board Game Project
I had similar questions which I emailed directly to Profantasy. The response was both quick and extremely helpful.
In my case I wanted clarification of how I could use jpg exports in virtual tabletops. The main map(s) were fine; despite being 'floorplans', they're clearly maps and not an issue. The issue I had was with GM only information. How could I show traps and such without breaking the EULA? Let's face it, the easiest thing to do for personal use is just import the png symbol into your VTT of choice and use it as a token or whatever. Clearly that is in breach of the EULA for commercial purposes as you're selling a symbol, a piece of PFs artwork.
In the end, PF was happy with my proposed solution (I sent them samples so they could see exactly what I intended and how it would work) and I just had to include an attribution to Profantasy, I don't recall the exact wording but it was very simple and absolutely no trouble.

CC3+ on OS X Big Sur / Apple M1 Silicon / Crossover
Nah. I was tempted to update from Crossover 19.0.2 to Crossover 20 but decided against it. I'm not continually paying for additional upgrades to Crossover (and likely having to re-download and re-install CC3+ and its add-ons) every time Apple update their OS. Nor am I paying an additional several hundred dollars for the ultimate license for Crossover which gives lifetime updates.
I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO file and created a Bootcamp partition for Windows 10 PRO (legitimately) and installed Windows without a product key. Apparently it will still work without the license just with some reduced functionality. This doesn't bother me as I'll only be using it for CC3+ anyhow and possibly my works cloud based accounting package when I'm working from home. Only installed CC3+ and CD3 so far and it already looks way better.
Looking forward to using the program without the weird little idiosyncrasies running through Crossover generated.

Live Mapping: Complex Room Shapes
@Ralf This is one of the best, IMO, live mapping sessions you've done. The part I liked the most, which was kind of a 'EUREKA!' moment (for me at any rate), was using construction lines and the 'Change like drawing tool' command to get the walls & floor done. Absolute brilliance! I've used the command before but have never thought of using construction lines to such a degree! This will make future dungeon maps for me much easier, not to mention faster, with a lot less editing (generally erasing and re-doing) required.
The next best, was using multipoly for the floors, particularly those with tiles or 'grid' like bitmaps. I think it was @DaltonSpence that suggested doing that on one of my Ancient Tombs commission WIP threads but I didn't understand how to do it properly. Now I do, thanks Ralf!
Construction lines here I come!
