Wall ditch, yay!

There seems to be a time and place for using contours in grass terrain; not all elevation will benefit from it - obviously. Will need to figure out the slopes...

Coastline was never going to work out with a big slab of castle rock like that...

Encircling it with water of course has consequences for elevation - especially with regards to the waterfront part of town. Looking at an Amalfi coast solutionf for sure!

The trick is picking a motif that woos the crowd to the point where its properties as a map are no longer questioned

Thanks! Yours too! I think it kind of helps for the speed going from the impossibly faint colours of the D&D, and now not having to work too hard to come up with what to put in there to make things appear. I think a low-details setting and just the one little house there helped too :D

Wood texture is going places now I think. It looks a bit like carrots for the time being but with the side patterns being brought into the fold, later, I think that won't be a problem. I mean, if it's all carrots....

Oh, and yeah; I ended up with a winter story there of a serpent going for the star and whatnot on the left. So maybe each side of the wooden frame will be telling a story of sorts.

Setting up a custom mirror drawing tool is worth trying out, also (remember to give it a 90° kick under Options for top-to-down drawing).

It's kind of node-heavy and potentially will rely a great deal on clever node positioning, but designing large and using small tends to work wonders for hiding my own shortcomings!

Nothing beats gluing together well-designed arcs and paths though, I find, and with regular tools there is the option of combining smooth and sharp in a way that the mirror tool doesn't really allow for. Its strength is speed.

For question 1, I let an ortho'd and snapped line start at the very tip, and run all the way to the bottom.

So as close as they appear to be, the top end node is not aligned with the bottom end node.

It's great seeing all these different styles and approaches to the application! It really can be what we allow for it to be.

And, might I add, for a master-level procrastinator such as myself it was great to have an incentive to actually wrap up a sizeable project for once...

Sloppy execution here, but a grand total of 72 "slab" shapes as symbols (randomized and whatnot) made for some interesting paving. Colour Key:ed out the bits that didn't fit the room boundaries to clear the space for the wall. Kind of circling back to Bande Desinnée aesthetics.

Symbols as contours for the paving was also way quicker than the below 15 x 5 ft corridor section. But it, too, has qualities that I enjoy. The idea of keeping modular sections as symbols is very tempting.

The cartoonish quality probaby works better for the VTT token (below).
