YAWIP: Sea Star, a Dark city seaport
Started this, this morning... I was going to go shopping, but my allergies decided to let me known Hurricane Ida hadn't forgotten me. Rain washed out the pollen from the air, dampness brought the mold and pollen back. Me sneezing through the store would likely upset folks, so I came home and started this.
Seaport part of a city. Since it is a seaport, I went for dark blue, instead of black buildings.
Anyway, here is the very preliminary map. This will eventually go up on my Old Crestar site, on an island I hadn't really placed any detail on before.

WIP - The Pink Lantern Quarter - A Kowloon Walled City Style Asian town map
I remember a documentary that brought up why the Mediterranean Sea part of of Egypt was called Lower Egypt, and further south into Namibia was called Upper Egypt.
I had always presumed it was because Namibia was upstream of Cairo. But the documentary said it was due to Egypt's maps having North at the bottom of their maps. I have no idea how accurate that is.

looking for the original, a starship
I have a strap holding my main pair to my face. Sometimes I lower them to put on my reading glasses. As I'm looking for my regular glasses to put them back on, I look down at the irritating thing hitting my hands. Its my eyeglasses.
Anyway. The original, crews quarters as an example, is 129 feet across. This ship's upper work is 4 miles across.
So, to put regular sysmbols on these huge scaled up decks, they would look like dust motes. So I will be taking rooms, importing them into a 'decide myself size' template, and put furnishings, etc. in. And put them on a page with the deck map. That way I don't have to put symbols in all of the rooms.
Here is a reproduction of my original drawing.
