Be interesting to know how it plays, should it be used. Of course, standard party tactic is to wander off in the wrong direction from whatever's been prepared, so I appreciate that may never happen regardless!
Wyvern, awesome map. One question. Is there meant to be hyperlinks to other sections? When I get the "floaty hand" and click on it, I get a big Ant token that I can drag around.
No, there are no hyperlinks in the FCW. It's intended as just a map, not an interactive drawing. To "get" to other Levels, you need just activate the appropriate Level Layer to see each. It's best to only show one Level at a time though, as there is some very heavy overlap between Levels.
Ok, so the contest is over. I will be meeting with my gaming group on the 7th of July and we will judge then (sorry, we had to delay our game date). I'll return after the game with the winner's announcement!
Yes and no. They don't know they are their maps.....they think this is a contest for our Community Atlas - I lied to them, ok? LOL. They think that there are several mapping groups judging a mega contest, which is why we are all judging together. And.....I don't expect them to get to this and these maps for a LONG while - they are only level 13 right now....and this....this is my epic big baddie, if they survive to campaign's end will meet the Demon Lord turned Godling, Bayemon. Since we only play maybe once or twice a month, it'll be a year at least before they get here.....did i mention they have very short attention spans, my murder hobos?
So, now I need to add lying to the list of your vices. And here I thought you where a nice lady. Well, you are a DM, guess that just goes with the territory.
They are players, short attention span is part of the deal.
And am I the luckiest DM in the world? My players are NOT murder hobos. (Of course, being players, there's still plenty of funny things about them)
Now, the way I see it is... a DM must be able to obfuscate the fact that the passageway, or overland area, the players are about to take their characters through, isn't that bad, in spite of their misgivings, and yet do it nonchalantly in such a way as to not arouse their suspicions. Of course, what they should do is run away, Very Fast, to easier climes. But sadly they don't.
Did I say sadly ? Well, yes. Because I don't want to hear the moans and groans as they roll up new characters. The whining !
It's much easier in Call of Cthulhu. You know from the start things aren't going to end well, and that nobody in their right mind would be investigating whatever's happening in the game in the first place!
Back to Lorelei's original topic, seeing all the places that didn't get mapped this time, and the fact it could be at least a year before the maps would be needed, would it be worthwhile continuing/relaunching this as a potential, but non-competition, ongoing mapping project? Maybe give some extra information about places it would be particularly helpful to have mapped too, and with the intention the maps would also go into the Community Atlas (perhaps with some amendments). Something a little like the Mega Dungeon competition from Feb 2019 say (where I'm hugely flattered to discover my mapping efforts for that have been credited to Shessar; if only my mapping was half as good...!).

Oops, seems there is an error on the contest page. The map itself is correctly attributed on the map page though. I'll fix the contest page, probably just a copy/paste error.
Actually, turned out to be a single extra space character. The challenges page fetches the mapper automatically, but the extra space caused an error in the lookup. It defaults to the world map by default, this functionality was intended to always display a map if the user entered an illegal URL instead of a useless error page, but in this cases, it caused an unintended side effect.
Thank you all for participating! My group and I viewed and judged the maps last night - it was difficult, but we have our first, second and third place winners.
First prize goes to......Wyvern for The Hive - AMAZING set of maps. The group felt this set of maps was the most playable of the bunch, which is why it inched ahead to first place. Well done!!! Please whisper to me some ideas of what you'd like in a custom dice set as your prize
Second prize goes to Shessar with The Eternal Barrow of the Black Prince - artistically (and you know that's MY style, lol) this map just floored everyone. The oohs and ahhs when i brought it up on the TV screen for voting brought a huge smile to my face. Lovely, lovely map!!
Third prize goes to Theschabi for The Broken Bridge - Everyone loved the detail in the gorge on the map and appreciated the Great Toll Fortress handout.
The remaining entries were all very well done! Everyone, thank you so much for participating - you will ALL be gifted some dice (some of you sets, some single D20's). I have whispered to you each to discuss the details.
Indeed, congratulations to Shessar and Theschabi, and many thanks to Lorelei for running this, especially for extending it so more people were able to get involved - including of course myself.
A very fine and varied selection of maps submitted, all of them inspiring beyond being part of the mapping contest. When people ask "why use CC3+?", just point and say - that was the program which generated all of these!

Again, WELL DONE AND THANK YOU!!!!
This was a fun competition. Thanks for doing this Lorelei.
It certainly was a lot of fun mapping and seeing what the others mapped.
Hurrah !
