Installing CC3+ on Ubuntu 14.04 with Wine
Hi all,
I bought CC3+ about a year ago and successfully installed it on by Ubuntu system (if I had to jump through any hoops, I don't remember what they were). However, I recently bought a new machine, and when I try to run the CC3PlusSetup.exe via wine it successfully fills two progress bars, then disappears for a considerable amount of time before bringing up the following error message:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime 12.0 could not be installed. -2147023436
Please use Windows Update to manually install this update on your system.
CC3+ Setup cannot continue.
Googling the error message turn up this thread:

but I tried downloading and running the three .exes from Microsoft's site, and none of them do anything visible.
Anybody have any tips?

You only would install out of the 3 files the one of the 2 mentioned above you need. Also, the installer can take a good bit of time before it does anything.
Visual C++ installer may also go onlne and download additional files doing the install too.
Plus, if you have anti-virus software running it can cause the installer to take much longer, sometimes an hour or 2 or more. So try turn of any anti-virus software if it is taking too long.
I also did some digging and found that you may need to use Winetricks to install it. (See both pages especially the second.)
