  • New Update...

New Dungeon Symbols added: Accessories, Cliffs&Caves, Fences&Walls, Stones, and Sets
New Dungeon Fill Styles added: Grey, Lava, and Wood

It looks like I will have one more update to do to get all of the Dungeon Symbols finished. The fills will take quite a bit longer, but I'll probably do the Overland and City symbols as I continue to work on the fill styles.

    Enjoy!

Wow... you've been busy! That's a ton of new symbols. Thanks for making these available.

There are some bad links though. Accessories/Gems and the one under gems both return 404. I'm still working my way through the rest. : )

Edit: Looks like Jay beat me to it.

Most of the links are working now. I just tried the ones that weren't earlier.
    So thanks for fixing them.

The Grey Fills Catalog won't unzip correctly. I get an error messege indicating a problem with the RoughStoneFloor.png before the extractor stop working due to the error.
  • I have every thing fixed except the Grey Fills. My FTP software keeps timing out before the upload completes. I'm trying to figure out why, but may have to split the Grey Fills into two files. Please do not try downloading until I give the word. I've never had this problem before and am a bit baffled. Off to the software support page I guess. Sorry about this. :(
  • OK, I have everything fixed now. Turns out it was my ISP having trouble with intermittent signals today. Thanks again for letting me know that there was a problem and also for your patience. With this many files, I guess something was bound to go wrong sooner or later. :)
  • Shessar, I just like to say thank you for all the work you are doing and for allowing us to use them.
  • May I just say... holy CRAP.

I think I'm gonna archive my CSUAC files to a CD because I'm not going to be using them anymore! Long live SMAC!

  • Sorry for the delay in my next update. Life has gotten in the way for a week or two. I'll be updating again next week. I'm glad everyone is finding this useful.

Just letting you know that I haven't given up. :)

Sure, take a break, you deserve it.

    Dave? Hehe.
I'm a girl. Or rather, an old grey lady. My name's Gerri. :-D

Duh! Ok, now I get it. Guess I was a bit slow on the take up. :)
  • New Update, and this is a biggie. It is however, the final upload for Dungeon Symbols.

    New Dungeon Symbols added:
Under Stones: Stones-Snow Covered (I forgot to include these the last time)
    Floor Features
    Special Effects
    Transitions
    Transport
    Creatures
    People
    War

Some of the symbols like Transitions and Special Effects-Shadows aren't really needed because of CC's great sheet effects, but I've included them anyway. Occasionally, they are just the thing that is needed.

Now, to continue will Fills and begin work on City Symbols. Look for the next update in a week or so.

Thank you so much for putting those together and hosting them for us! Just finished adding them and updating my menus. They all work great and look fantastic. Can't wait to see the fills.
    : )

Indeed. Thanks for everything, this is a wonderful compendium and i hope i won´t delete, ever. :)
  • MedioMedio Surveyor
By the way, these ZIPs give me errors:

    Floor pits
    Floor trapdoors
    Floor designs

Nevermind, i think it´s my connection, it speeds way too fast and it takes errors :D
  • Glad it worked for you Medio.
  • MedioMedio Surveyor
Yeah, i have to downloaded one by one, but it´s (slowly) working. No way i´m missing all this! ;)
  • This is probably a dumb question. I noticed that each art directory contains a drawing file that appears to contain all the symbols from that directory. Do these files serve a purpose beyond just displaying all the symbols? Will it cause problems if they are all deleted?
  • Old Guy, Those are the drawings I used to create the catalogs. I keep them for my own use for ease of updates, but you can delete them.

Thanks. I figured that was probably the case but I'm still pretty new at this and didn't want to start doing things willy-nilly that I don't really understand yet.

I am really loving all the new symbols. Great stuff there!

Just out of curiosity, do you have an expected timeframe for the city symbols? CD3 is what I primarily use the most. I love mapping cities and I'm really looking forward to what you have in store for us.

Don't want to rush you or anything, just wondering :)

Well, this brings up a few questions that I have for you.

If I just post the symbols as they are, I could be done within 2 weeks. I'm about halfway done with sorting through everything I have.

However, if I decide (or get requests) to add the City features for Control Points, Frill Tracks, and Color Demographics, who knows. ;) The one thing I am certain is that I will not be adding the shading symbols. That is just way more time than I have.

I also have a symbol set for city walls and one for castles that would do great with connecting symbols, at least for portions.

So my questions are, how badly do you want some of the symbol options on these? Are they important, and which matter most to you?
  • bearclawbearclaw Traveler
I think the more options (the more you're willing to put together :) ) the better. Like I said, I'm in no rush. Just going through what you've posted so far will take a while :)

For me, I usually do manual placement of all the fancy details so control points and such are less important to me. Others might feel differently.

To me, the more options set the better. I am in no hurry. I estimate I will use these symbols for years to come, so a little more wait now is more than worth it in the long run.
