Map under an hour challenge
As everyone here is I'm very sure aware of by now, I'm very new to the art of cartography as a whole as well as CC3+, so with a few maps under my belt I decided to challenge myself in creating an entire map in under an hour! Though this is very standard for most of you expert professionals, it's something that I have yet to do so far. Until now! Here's my world (language I used this time: Afrikaans). I ran out of time and drew a lot of rocks, icebergs, fish, sea monsters, ice sheets, etc. but otherwise very happy with this. My favorite region is the swamp land! There are a few here that can make wicked maps in an hour. I've made a few.
That's not bad for a time restricted map.
Sadly, I take forever to create maps. It's because I keep changing my mind.
But there may be some who could give Ralf a run for his money ;)
Perhaps I know one in particular, but I won't name that person for fear of putting someone on the spot at an inconvenient time. Maybe they will do one anyway at some point.
I like this challenge. Of course, Ralf does it every time he does a Live Mapping session. Anyway, I will give it a go tomorrow.
Very good detailed work with overlanding for the short time you were willing to do it!
Usually, short time (sometimes rush or anxiety) and art don't usually go together. However, perhaps the thing that takes me the longest at first, at least here, is getting to know the program and automating my work sequences.
Once the "automatic" (while operating the basics of the program) is turned on, the work always tends to be much faster.
Some time ago I made this mini tutorial where you can quickly, in this case develop a sequence - at least for me - practical to work quickly. When I exchange city - in this case - for overland, the basics of my procedure remain the same.
Maybe it can be of some use to you.
