I have started to use the colorizing effect and adding the bezel. While it looks good zoomed in, I am not so sure the bezels look good when you see the full map. I am wondering if there are tweaks for the bezel I could try, if there is another technique I would use for the roof, or if I should just not use them.
It may be that the Length (how far it goes into the edge) is too great. If you know the width of those lines set the length to half of that. Then try putting 100% fade on it. That should give you a rounded bevel like the ridge of a roof.
Playing around with the Bezel didn't seem to do that much. However, playing around with the Bezel, Lighted I could tell more of a difference when adjusting the values. Another thing I realized is that I think part of my issue is with the yellow/gold color.
So I used, the Bezel, Lighted. I changed the fill to a light stone to give it texture. I then applied a color effect to it. Does this look better now? Any other changes to the roof to improve it before I start working on other buildings?
Well my issue with the original attempt was how it looked when you saw the whole map. Zoomed in it looked fine to me. But, if you want to see what this looks like zoomed in, here you go:

@JulianDracos Sorry, but what exactly do you mean by "bezel"?
Perhaps that is a bevel?
The gold colored roof sections on the red building. I used a bezel effect on it.
Can you show us a screen shot of the Bevel effect in edit mode, so we can see how it is set up?

Its quite difficult to tell at this size, but what's more important is if you are happy with it.

So which looks better. Red walls or normal walls?
Slight preferrence for normal, but it's close.
Either one.
No preference - if red it could be the Forbidden Red city 😁
