SHADEPICT for bitmap symbols

To apply effects like RGB matrix and Adjust Hue/Saturation to bitmap symbols, the SHADEPICT command is required for each symbol. See https://forum.profantasy.com/discussion/1947/strange-sheet-effect-behavior (already from 2010!).
Does this have any disadvantages, or why not all standard symbol catalogs are converted to this feature?

Regular symbols are always drawn a second time after effects are applied, which means that effects tend not to visibly affect them. The DELAYDRAWSYM command was added a few years back to remove the second drawing of symbols.

The SHADEPICT symbol flag is not a reliable solution for effects showing.
