I have created 4 zip files of png and no grid png, and jpg and no grid jpg. each zip only has 7 maps so far. There are 42 more maps to be added to these zip files, but I wanted feedback first.
I would appreciate any feedback. Downloading correctly ? Do they at least look okay ?
Oops. 002.jpg is 80' wide instead of 75' wide. This is in the jpg_grid.zip file. I will upload the corrected file next week. There is a city festival in Everquest 2, ends Sunday night.
Since these zip files look to become rather large, I'll be putting only 7 maps per zip file.
The next 7 are uploaded, with 5' grids. The 'no grid' maps takes extra work as the guidelines aren't there. I made larger grids, close to the color of the background, but they are harder to see. On a separate page, and 3 examples from the zip files.
If someone has a quicker way, than by eye and save as rectangular section, to cut this map up into 75' x 50' maps... I would very much appreciate knowing how. I would like to make another set of these, but cutting them into smaller pieces is a pain. I could just make 75' x 50' maps... but I find it easier to map this as one large map.
If you set up the snap grid to 75' by 70', then exporting the correct sections are easy as dirt... (Assuming your bottom left corner is located at 0,0)
It is at 0,0, but I somehow skewed the map. The bottom section is only 45' high, not 50'.
I overlapped row 6 and 7, so the bottom row is 50' high upon rectangular export.
Exporting the map at 5000 pixels, I get 49 parts that are 714 x 478 pixels. But different location types; desert, woodlands, water, etc.; are on the same map for some reason. I found that confusing.
Ah, got rid of cross hairs because I couldn't find the corners of each map piece. I'm up to map 29 now. So I'm making progress. That is with the 5' grid.
Note that I'm doing this without eyeglasses as my regular ones aren't bifocals, and the screen is too far away for my readers.
All 49, 5' grid, maps, some I moved the symbols and fills around, are done.
I'm heading for lunch, but I'll work on getting them into zip files, 7 maps per file, with text on the article page, and in the zip, as I just numbered them. Easier to download, but I'll see how big more maps per zip will be...
I moved a 75' x 50' grid I made to a different layer... so the 49 maps without grid will be easier to do.
I have been thinking of making several zips of the same type of terrain. There are only 1 swamp, 2 water, and 2 sand pieces. So, I can see making more of those.
Anyway, onward !
Catch ya later, and thanks for the help.
I've added several of them to my Gallery, under battle maps.
Okay, I'm about half way through the no grid versions. I'm making label and other mistakes, so I'm going to stop here.
Silly me, I discovered if I made a grid 75' x 50' with lines, when I save as a rectangular area, those lines don't show up in the output file.
And I started putting things like holes in the ground, etc. in the last column of 7 maps... but the swamp/marsh, desert, and water pieces, lack details. Like ridges, small islands, deeper areas, etc.
So, I'll work on those later this week.
If you already downloaded them from my site, I finally saw the pieces under the 75' x 50' lines grid, and saw my water and sand were off alignment. Those have been fixed.
Nothing since my uploads yesterday are uploaded. But I will get them done.
I'll place the fixed ones in my Gallery.
I think for my next trick, no rabbits nor Bulwinkle later, I'll make one large water, a large sand, and then add bits to that, and then cut them up. If I remember, I'll export the sand and water ones at 2,000 pixels. I know Epic-Table, and maybe others, can handle jpg/pngs that size.
Whew, off to sleep perchance to dream, but hopefully not of maps.
I think I found a less tedious way to do these maps... make one large map of the same type, then use Irfanview to chop them up into 7 columns and 7 rows of maps. Anyway, my typos have increased, so I'm stopping my work on this for now. 5 more columns of zip files to do. And typing up the short text file descriptions.

Well, Irfanview can be used to cut the original large image into parts.
However, the images are 384x261. I want them to be 2000 pixels wide, but there isn't a way to do that in Irfanview.
I'll keep working at it.

I'll try your method.
Here is a screenshot of the settings, it doesn't seem to snap to the grid for me.
Slight past the grid on the right, I'll also include the fcw file.
The snap grid in your map is just named 75x50, but you've set it up with a 1', 4 snap division grid.
Oh, well, that explains it. Argh. I'll try again.
Much better ! Thanks Remy. I'll work on this Monday if I have time. More likely Tuesday.
Now I can do with and without grid much easier.
You're welcome. The snap grid is really your best friend when trying to do precision work.

I now have 2 columns, out of 7, all 4 versions ( jpg with and without grid, and png with and without grid ) uploaded to two pages.

Very slow upload speeds today; however, I am in the process of uploading the other 5 columns of map zips. And hour for not much in file sizes.
There will be page links on the above 2 pages for the others.
