I don't want to introduce noise into the conversation, but.. couldn't the city be named Al Shammar and be located in Dekunu Oasis? You could have them both (as title and subtitle)
Anyway, since I have an arabic-speaking person sitting next to me I decided to ask. She doesn't quite recognize Shammar as a word (ofc it can always be a proper name) but she tells me it could perfectly be interchangeable between Shammal and Shammar (because.. phonetics, writing, and stuff). And that "Al Shammal" would mean "The North".

Forgotten Realms Interactive Atlas repairs.
Oh, there are many many maps, not just the one.
The one shown by JimP above is the "main" map. But then you could zoom into each of the wards and get more detailed maps. And then there are a few areas where a "street level" area is detailed.
To give you a feeling of it all, I captured an animated GIF and placed it here:

Someone created updated looks for Forgotten Realms maps - can't find
I have updated a couple of old FRIA maps to use modern styles. Most notably, I redid the Myth Drannor map. I did have to take some creative liberties due to some of the original maps being loose with scale (see this post).
However, I have absolutely no clue if sharing them would be some sort of infringement on copyright. Note that I didn't redraw them, but rather restyled them, and that makes it more tricky (to make it even trickier: I did redraw some things, and reused some other parts). If anyone has an authorative answer, I'd love to
hearread it. -

Are you sure you have them separated and individually installed in sequence each time?
Yes, I'm pretty sure I was very careful on this step.
I installed the CD and created a copy of the maps folder. Then I installed update1 and backed up the folder again. And then the same for the other two remaining updates. Btw, I still have all 4 folders readily, so I'd be happy to answer questions on the status of certain files.
It might be obvious, but perhaps I should clarify that when I mention Update3, I really mean the result of installing CD, then Up1, then Up2, and finally Up3. This is important because at the very beginning I did one test here I only installed up3, and I had some maps missing. For example,
0080 Secret Cave.fcwwas not present if you just install update3.Maps like
B1cNWlcmake me feel confident in my method (because all 4 maps are different), but there's always a chance for human error. So... there's that.EDIT: I just noticed I left this question unanwsered:
Maybe we will have to compare actual files of update 1 update 2 and update 3?????
[...]
I mean like the actual compressed update files.
I did think about it, but I quickly found out I wasn't meant to do so, so I dug no further. Like JimP correctly pointed, these are not your typical cab files.
EDIT2: I created another XLS export for my records, might as well attach it:
