  • Inspiration for ship deckplans?

I don't think I've mentioned here that I have a webpage (more of a playground, actually). In it I've dabbled into procedural/random map generation; mainly because I think it's fun, but also because I have a hard time doing visual stuff that looks good, or at least good-ish.

Mind you, it's one of the great joys of owning CC3+: actually creating maps that I like.

Anyway, while I'm slow to add things to my page, I realized just last week that I could reuse much of the code I've already done and create ship deckplans.

It's still a very rough WIP, but I think it's good enough to drop the generated image into CC3+ / Cosmographer either as a starting point or inspiration. It's still unlisted from the main page, but I still thought I'd share it:

Right now: Cockpit always faces left, engines are towards the rightmost room, textures are preliminary, and it's very easy to have a design that doesn't make much sense. ;)

Hopefully it's useful to somebody else.

  • Can the style of an existing map be changed?

Remy did a video some time ago (Changing Map Styles):

  • March 2023 humble bundle

Yes, they're a different thing. Let's see if I can dig into this.

    According to HumbleBundle...

    • Fantasy World Mapper offers four overland styles.
    • Fantasy City Mapper offers three city styles.

And according to my 2021 purchase:

    • Cartographers Collection 2 (contains Fantasy World Mapper, Fantasy City Mapper, The Age of Cthulhu, and Science Fiction Mapper)
    • Cartographers Collection 1 (contains Modern Mapper, The Age of Exploration, and Dungeons & Floorplans)

Last time I tried to figure this out, I came up with this list (be warned that I'm not 100% sure on this):

... and then I tried to make this handy chart with the annuals highlighted, but I'm pasting a new image below that includes the World Building Compendium. You should be looking for HCC1, HCC2 and HWBC (again, I'm not 100% sure on these):

And while my notes can't distinguish what exacly fits, for example, in the Age of Cthulhu "package", you should be getting it along with the rest of the HCC2.

    Hope this helps.

Here's another neon-coloured map I decided to try out. This time, I did take note of the map I wanted to mimic (link), but I feel like I'm waay behind.

Don't get me wrong, I still like the way it's turning out. But it took a form of its own, and it's not really what I sought out to emulate anymore.

Anyway, here's what I have so far. Suggestions are, as always, welcome.
