August Mapping Competition - Vote for the Winners - Vote closes Sept. 8th.
So, with august firmly in the rear view mirror, the competition is over and it is time to vote for the winners.
As stated in the rules, there will be two categories to vote on. Think these through when voting, best map and most visually stunning map isn't the same thing, mapping is more than making things beautiful.
- Best Building: Who made the best building overall. This includes all the floors.
- Most interesting floorplan: Which floorplan is the most interesting one? A floorplan can be interesting because it has a special twist, because it is very highly detailed, because it has an interesting story, or whatever you think makes it interesting. Note that this is judged on the basis for each floor, not the building as a whole. For this category, visual looks is low priority, unless the visuals is what makes it interesting.
I am giving everyone two votes here, which means there are 4 poll questions below to answer, 2 for each category. Please vote even if you didn't take part in the competition.
I am going to keep the poll open for a week. I am also drawing the two random prizes at the end of the vote.
And as usual, don't despair if you end up with 0 votes. The number of people voting in these contests aren't large enough to give a proper distribution, so the votes tends to clump along the handful of maps that people like the very most, with the maps receiving few or no votes, even if they're not that far behind. That's what happens when you convert quality to numbers through voting.
All submitted entries are included in the vote, but certain people, like ProFantasy employees and contest managers are not eligible for a prize, so if they get into the top, prizes will just move down to the next one in the list. Same if someone don't want their prize, or one person wins multiple (Each entry is only eligible for one prize)
The entries are presented below

FastCad: Menu File not found
Do her user have access to the location you installed the program to? (i.e. can she browse to that location using windows explorer, there should be a few png files in there, can she view those in an image viewer?)
Assuming she can, on the CC3+ command prompt, try typing
menudm @fcw32.mnuand hit enter. This should load the default menu file, and CC3+ does remember this between sessions, so if this works, it shouldn't have to be done again. -

I wonder if I can insert an image from my gallery, so it can be displayed in a better resolution
It's technically possible, but please don't. The restriction for image sizes in posts are due to many people browsing the forum either with a slow connection, or with limited data plan. When someone visits a post with an embedded image, they don't get a choice if they want to display it or not, which is why the large versions of the images should stay in the gallery which require a conscious choice to view. You can link to the image in the gallery from the post instead. (Just don't put the link on a line by itself, the forum post editor software takes that as a sign it should be embedded instead of linked.)

Issues with DD3 loading textures from older maps
Hmm... Old maps should normally work fine as long as you have the same add-ons as you did when making the map. I can see there are some spots on that map where the background shines through, so that is loaded just fine, but obviously there is a lot of things missing. Do you know what art you used when creating that map. Was it standard CC3/DD3 art, or perhaps you used some 3rd party art like the CSUAC package?
You can gather clues from the file names. You can find symbol filenames by opening the symbol manager, picking a symbol and hitting the lsit button, while fill style file names can be found on the bitmap files tab on the fill style dialog. If you post the .fcw, I should also be able to tell you pretty quick.
As for your CC3 dungeon question. CC3 Dungeon is just a very limited dungeon style, more like a demo than a proper full style, only allowing you to make rather simple dungeons. As such, it doesn't have a lot of symbols, and all the symbols are already loaded in the symbol catalog window, the catalog buttons at the top aren't connected to the style at all, and just load catalogs from a more or less random style.
