    Tower and Beyond

I move on to the tower and start working out how I want my clay tiles done.

Polygons-as-contours works well to get the outlines of the tiles: it's a bit overkill with regards to the level of detail, but I also think it's important to establish what to make of the orange/brown stuff.

I can then move on to trees and shrubbery - ending up using three colours in total. It's quick enough with the blob tool, though.

I'm happily surprised with how nice they look even without well-defined contours, but seeing as the tower gets a proper ink contour treatment (depending on it, more like...) the vegetation will - ultimately - also need it. Because the sketch and ink lines came first, right? RIIGHT!

More sponge to get gradients and realising the rock, too, probably needs some accentuated bits. I don't think these will be the final lines for the rock, but I'm getting a good idea of just how much (or little, rather) is going to be required.

There's no escaping the cursed water's edge now, it would seem.

Not the greatest execution, admittedly. But you should see the other guy!

  • Pseudo-Architectural Shenaningans (WIP)

It's an existing style in that it simply uses CC3's out-of-the-box tools @DaltonSpence - very much like the previous "handdrawn" efforts but with a more strict approach - akin to construction drawing. The idea here being, ineed, that it can be used as a VTT battle-map if so desired.

As seen below, all that is added is a background bitmap for that papery texture (and sheet effects of course). And, if I do say so myself, it doesn't look like absolue rubbish even with the bells and whistles turned off; a testament to the strength of construction drawing :D

I may end up trimming the rock face a bit but, by and large, I'll think I'll chalk this one down as a success.

Next up I think it's on to the tunnels on the north side; south will feature the accessway and battlements: I reckon the dwarves built it to keep things away from reaching their settlements above. So that means there will be large, magical runes carved into the ground and specific locations - which means in turn there will be some blue light as well.

Or, just procrastinate for a month.

  • WIP: BD-like - a process output extravaganza

Lol, yeah the circular bit kind of stuck,@Monsen. North-west quadrant I hope to be able to make a worthy rerepresentation of the city (far) below. Currently, they are towers! (and it's to be a battle map for VTT)

At the intended zoom level. Makes one question if the contours shouldn't be toned down a little too!

Figured I'd spend the first quarter of 2022 in sepia urban environs. Lots of lines with urban, which is nice, and it just might be the necessary push to get me through the door and do, well, indoors.

Mockup making an awful lot of promises, methinks.
