  • October Community Challenge - Faeridge

    I think I'm calling my October Community Challenge map complete. Thanks much to Remy and Sue for the suggestions - implementing them made it a MUCH better map!

    I've attached the .fcw file to the last post with a map in it. Everything comes straight from CC3+ (mostly the annual City Streets style, but the font and a few of the symbols are from other add-ons), so it should work fine for the Community Atlas if you'd like to include it.

    Well, now I feel a little silly. We learned way back in first grade to read all of the instructions completely before starting to work :)

    Thank you!

  • [WIP] August Mapping Competition - Callum's Curiosity

    Well, I fibbed. Just a little. Callum Cullfeather grew a little in my mind, and I needed to add just a bit to the map text. This led to resizing the background and the text box to accommodate the new words, which then led to rewording a few parts so that it fit in the box in a way that's more pleasing to my eye.

    Here is the latest "final" version…

    Cities aren't my usual mapping "thing," so I'm having a hard time deciding if there's anything else I need...

    I'm picturing this as a residential / mercantile neighborhood, with the Sherrif, Bailiff and Catchpole all having residences here though their work takes them throughout the city. That small courtyard type area with the fountain just seems like a natural place for people to shop. I could crowd more businesses in there, I suppose, though I'd want to make sure they're ones that don't stink to high heaven - it just seems like a little more upscale place than that to me.

    Thank you all for the kind words!

    @Dak - Lancashire? :D

    @JulianDracos - I added the clouds in Affinity Photo. They're the "Fog 4" brush from the Dreamscapes brush pack.

    @Royal Scribe After I did an innocuous Google search about starting an LLC, Rocket Lawyer started bugging the heck outta me about getting going on it. One of their suggestions was a trademark, and that prompted me to make this. I think your forum icon would be a great start on a maker's symbol for you - I've admired it for awhile.

    @Lorelei - I continue to be humbled and gratified every year by the dedication of my friends to our gaming weekend, and amazed at the excitement we all have for it not only during the event but throughout the entire year. This will be year 19!

  • [WIP] August Competition - Pappy's Pub

    Pappy is what my kids and I have decided my grandchildren will call me (when I actually have grandchildren, which is still a few years down the road, I hope).

  • A Quick Stab at a New Map

    From an aesthetic viewpoint, I prefer the darker brown "base" (the supporting earth/cliffs) from your first map to the much lighter color of the second one. I think it's the contrast between that and the surface area that appeals.

    Both of those maps are awesome, Ricko! I love 'em!
