  • First time selling art! Silly question, but...

    From the EULA:

This product includes a large amount of symbols, fill-styles and other artwork in a variety of file formats (OUR ARTWORK). This section sets out how you can distribute maps containing OUR ARTWORK.

    (i) Subject to the restrictions in section ii and iii, you may freely distribute the maps you create using OUR ARTWORK in CC3 format, but not the source image files (PNG and bitmap artwork) associated with them, and you may freely distribute flat files (for example BMP and PNG) exported from CC3 or third-party applications containing OUR ARTWORK. You may publish such maps for commercial gain.

(ii) You may not redistribute any map that in our sole opinion is, or appears to be, for the purpose of disseminating OUR ARTWORK. Think of your maps as documents, and our symbols as fonts. You can print a document containing Times New Roman font, but you can't give the font file away, or produce a "font book".

(iii) You may not produce commercial products which consist predominantly of floorplan-resolution exports of OUR ARTWORK without written permission from ProFantasy Software Ltd. This includes but is not limited to PDF dungeon tiles.

  • Island Cliffs advice

I would probably do the coastline differently. That blue color doesn't look right when it ends up on the top of the cliffs like that. Maybe a different color, or maybe simply drop it completely. If you keep the "cliff mountains" on the same sheet as the landmass, you could use a glow effect for the coastline that would then trace the actual outside of the combined shape. Another option is to draw the coastline manually as a separate entity, and either skip it at the cliffs, or draw it at their base.

  • Dungeon Designer 3 vs Annual Dungeons packs - difference?

It actually used to be a bit more difference, because DD3 was the product that contained the specialized dungeon tools for making things like rooms and connecting corridors and such, so without DD3 you wouldn't have these specialized tools.

However, as of the latest CC3+ version, these dungeon tools are installed in all CC3+ installation, so that isn't a concern any more.

So, the big difference comes down to two things:

    • Amount of artwork: The dedicated products (DD3, SS2, SS4) do contain more artwork in a given style than the various dungeon issues in the annuals, which are a bit more light-weight.
    • The style: Down to what visual style you prefer.

  • Pixelated Drawing Tools in DD3

Change the display quality using :CC2RESMODE:. Set it to Fixed - High or very high. After doing that, you can try setting it back to automatic and clearing the bitmap cache, but if the issue remains, just leave it at fixed.

CC3+ uses 4 different resolutions for performance reasons, and what you see here is one of the lower texture resolutions being displayed instead of the higher one that probably should have been displayed in that situation.

Note that "Sample size" is just the size of the sample window, it doesn't affect the drawing.

  • CHK DATA Error using various forest using new purchase SS-1

You say reinstalled, but did you actually install the update, or reinstalled using the original CC3+ installer? The CC3+ installer will only fix CC3+ itself, so running a repair install using that won't help with SS1 problems, but the updates contain the update files not just for CC3+ itself, but for all the add-ons and stuff too. This is why it is important to install the update after installing any new add-on, even if your version number is already at the latest.

If you already did install the update and it didn't work, you should contact tech support. You'll find the form by logging in to your registered user pages.

  • [WIP] Custom Map for Dune Boardgame

The Necro flags disappears after a couple of replies.

It is meant as a warning, basically saying "Someone has revived an old thread. Pay attention to what you are replying to, as the original poster may not even visit the forum anymore. Also note that any technical information in this thread may be outdated".

I've seen more than once people starting commenting on a many year old map where the poster haven't been here for years, or people trying to help someone who asked a question years ago.

It's nothing wrong with replying to a necro thread, it's just a marker informing you to keep in mind that it is an old thread being resurrected.

  • New Mouse

That's a known problem with Logitech mice. They use crappy switches. I actually use Logitech myself because of a range of other advantages, like the great power play charging system, no other manufacturer have anything else coming close. But I also end up replacing the thing regularly because of the crappy switches, experiencing the exact same things you describe, even in the more expensive models.

But most other makers have their issues too. The one I had before my logitech streak was a Razer, and it actually came with replacement switches, but of course, not for the switch that actually did wear out, my wheel button. And the one before that came with a battery that started to grow out of it's compartment. All good mice as far as operating them and functionality goes, they just don't last.

  • A random dungeon - Jon Roberts Style

I totally understand that problem. From the GM point of view I don't really get random dungeons. I always want to know the reason WHY such a thing was built, why it's still there, why the traps should still work...

I agree. I always start with the reasons and motivation for the dungeon before I get into drawing the dungeon. I need the context to be able to make a proper dungeon. It needs to have a reason for being made in the first place, a reason for surviving since it was built, and a reason for the things and monsters within. I always try to imagine why the original builder would make things this way.

  • Map Construction

Templates have different advantages and disadvantages. Generally, all maps with particularily "fancy" elements have constrained dimensions because the new map wizard doesn't have the facilities to just scale the map area (technically, CC3+ doesn't have a separate understanding of the intended mapping area and outside elements like this, everything is just "the map"). So for these kinds of maps, free scaling is impossible. You can always edit the mapping area after creating the map though. Everything is still just regular entites, you can manipulate it as you wish, you just have to do some manual work, since it won't be 100% ready straight out of the new map wizard.
