There are two main things that can cause erase to misbehave:

• It actually calls a macro, so if your macro file is corrupt the command may not load properly. There was a bug in an earlier version that could cause corruption of your in-memory version of the macros, hence the importance of the update. The update should also have replaced your macro file on disk. You can check that your macro file looks sane by going to tools -> macros -> edit macros, scroll down in the dialog, and check that the last line is ENDM (followed by a blank line)
• Your selection method may be changed. This should make all commands requiring a selection to misbehave though, and not just erase, but you can reset it to the default by going to tools menu -> options -> Select method -> set to dialog or popup.

The reason it works when you move it back to the desktop is likely because the map is set up with map-relative paths to the images. Which means it looks for the images in a spesific place that is relative to where the map is, so if you move the .fcw file, you need to move the image folder along with it so they keep their relative relationship in the new location.

As Sue says, it is best to keep your symbols under @Symbols\User\somesubfolder

Change the line width of the entity to 0.

Probably just the arrow head being tiny. Use Tools -> Set Properties -> Arrow Style and change it to something more reasonable for your map size.

The installer contains updates not just to the main program, but also to the add-ons. so even if you have the latest program version, there will still be things in the updater that updates the add-ons. This is why it should be run at the end after installing everything.

What do you mean when you say things are gone though? Is it replaced by red X'es, or just completely gone? If it is the former, it means that you are missing art resources you used to have installed, which probably means you forgot to install something on your new install.

This file doesn't change the defaults for new maps, it only allow the add city layers command to operate properly and add the layer to an existing map.

To change defaults for new maps, the only way is to edit the template they are based upon, but there is no global file to edit to apply to all new city maps, you need to edit the templates for each style individually.

OK. I think I found what you are seeing. Does this match what you are doing?

1. Your current sheet is the one you're going to hide in a moment
2. You start placing symbols. This causes CC3+ to automatically (and temporarily) switch to the SYMBOLS sheet
3. You hide the sheet from 1. while you still have a symbol at your cursor
4. You stop placing symbols.

If this is the case, this behavior is by design. Tools that places things on specific sheets need to temporarily switch to this sheet, but to avoid breaking your workflow and ending up confused why you suddenly was on a different sheet, it will switch back to the sheet you were on when you end that command (stop placing symbols, end the drawing tool, etc). The sheet is then made active immediately, but because there isn't an automatic redraw, you just don't see it immediately when it was hidden. So it isn't the redraw that restores it, but it is at the point of the redraw you will notice it, but if you look at the status bar, you'll se that it has become the active sheet already before you to the redraw.

Where are you getting these vector symbols from? Are you talking about using existing vector symbols in CC3+ and import them into a different style, or are you getting them from somewhere else? That makes a huge difference when we talk vector symbols.
