On this tutorial, @Loopysue show how to improove the map color at the end of the creation.

Personally i feel more comfortable importing the final image on lightroom to retouch some colors.

@Bidmaron its how i make citys using Overland Map.

1 - displace hills, moutains etc. select in your mind the area where you want to displace the city

2 - start with 2 walls and 1 tower "hidding" wall conexion.

3 - places some constructions inside and one more wall - direction you want of course.

5 - add more houses to fullfil the town.

9 - Select Scrub vegetation and full the areas you want to give grass

10 - refresh you draw and you will see the grass going down from the hills.

Use terrain grass land and make the roads (i do it on step 8, forget to comment sorry)

14 - Because they are on the SYMBOLS sheet, once I refresh the drawing, they are automatically behind the trees (SYMBOLS TREES), in case you want the same effect behind, you will have to create a SHEET SYMBOLS hills/dune back and place it below from Symbols BACK and above Symbols trees back. That way they will also automatically go to the right place, under the trees behind.
