  • Mixing curves and straight lines?

Ok, cheers! Good to know I'm on the right path. CC3 is both close enough to, and different enough from, other vector programmes that I'm sometimes not sure if I'm on the right path.

(I've used Illustrator, etc, but not autoCAD)

Wow! It's crazy that you can make make impressive '3d' pictures with this!

  • A question about the Global Sun

    Edit:

    It works!

    Thank you SO SO much!

Ah ok. That gives me another problem, but I think I know the solution...

The problem is that If I have these unaffected sheets above Wall Shadow, Point Light Finalise, they will also be above the objects, furniture etc that I want to have shadows (in the lit rooms) - then the floor (unaffected) will obscure all the furniture in it.

But I can solve this by splitting my sheets into two types:

Furniture, floor, etc (unlit part of cave)

    and

Furniture floor, etc (lit part of cave)

At the moment, my furniture is all on the same sheet, my floors are all on the same sheet, etc, whether they're in the unlit or the lit part of the cave.

@Frosty Oh cool! I'm new to CC3 - the cave map was the first one I did (I bit off the very maximum I could chew!). It's not very historically/geographically accurate though. I have no idea about what rock and dirt colours, etc to use...

Me and my players are European, so I'm hoping nobody notices!

Let me know how it goes for you! One of my big draws for CC3 was the availability of materials for Cthulhu! I'd love to see anything you create.

  • How to export very large maps

    Hey everybody,

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I upped the MPPP to 4million and reduced the map size very slightly (it's still 9,000 x 7,128) pixels.

I'm going to try it again at a huuuuge size with the increased MPPP overnight just to see what happens, and if it fails again I'll do it in four parts.

@JimP Before I left it running last night I closed all other applications, but I don't know how to give it full access to memory and CPU.

It is a monster of a map though... Takes about 20 seconds every time I turn the effects on, or every time I pan with effects on.

    I brought this on myself!

Of course, now it's so big I can't easily share it.

There's a Google Drive link here, and I'll try to make a low-res version again so I can show you. (Ironic!)

There are a still a couple of strange artefacts I need to clear up, but it's looking pretty much correct. (Though I forgot to turn the light symbols off... oops!)

Thanks so so much for walking me through this!

  • How to export very large maps

Hi, thanks for such a comprehensive answer! I can try all those. Stitching it together in a BMP editor should be very easy for me (I do that kind of thing all the time) so I'll give that a shot.

What does the Maximum Pixels Per Pass option do?

And how long is a 'normal-long' time for an export?

(Sorry for all the questions - this is the last hurdle now!)

Thanks so much for all the help throughout this first map!

  • Bitmaps missing following a crash

    Yeah, how odd!

It turns out that it hadn't removed any bitmaps. It had added some dead links; some had similar names to textures I was using, so I thought I had lost them.

As it is, I can ignore it and continue on this one 'corrupted' map. It's a bit ugly, but since it doesn't affect any other maps, I can live with it. Thanks for your suggestion to look at the paths, it sorted it out for me!
