maps not loading

I have a few maps that are older maps for several cities I worked on several years back and the current version of CC+ 3.98 the cad version says its 6.20.0 The issue seems to show it loading but the maps never loads and they are about 511k to 749k the maps I have that works is 4,509k So I am trying to figure out why my maps are not loading, and if there is any way to fix them, even starting CC+ with administrator and they still hang when trying to load.

Comments

  • I noticed that they will load in CC3 but not CC3+ I thought CC3+ could load older CC3 maps it looks like that is not the case.

    Hi bloodstone :)

Maps that were created in CC3 have to be converted to work in CC3+. The command for that is FFIX. Open the old map and type the command on your keyboard, then press Enter.

Is this done in CC3 or CC3+ because CC3+ will not load the map, and CC3 gives the following warning: Campaign Catographer 3 does not understand the command CURFILECONVERT

Please can you share an example of the problem drawings?

You should be able to attach an FCW file to a forum comment as you make it.

This is one of the evil cities, and it wont load in CC3+ but will in CC3, its one of a few cities, and your welcome to that city!

    Thanks :)

I managed to open it in CC3, but it did take a lot longer than usual. I've run FFIX on it to speed up accessing the bitmap textures, but most of these buildings are vector so it might not do that much to improve the situation.

It might take about a minute to open for you. Be patient and see what happens.

  • the X areas are towers the actual location for them was never repaired just as an FYI, to get CC3 to adjust the FFIX, what should II do since getting the error.

FFIX isn't absolutely necessary, but it helps to shorten the time it takes for CC to find the bitmap fills. At least, that's the way I understand it. The command replaces # paths with @ paths.

What may be needed is a lot more time to allow each map to open. You should be able to run FFIX once the map opens properly.

  • open it in cc3? or cc3+ because cc3+ does not load it , i let it sit overnight and it still didnt load. CC3 will load it but the FFIX doesnt work

The map seems to be triggering a redraw loop.

The first thing you need to do when this issue occurs is to make CC3+ break out of this loop. Often, the best solution is to just have it display a dialog. Start loading the map, you'll notice that the cursor turns in to the spinning circle, and the title bar of CC3+ will alternate between showing and not showing a "(not responding)" at the end there.

Now, just click on the sheets and effects button in the left toolbar. You'll not get an immediate response, because the program is working, and it can be worth clicking a few times just to make sure it is picked up (but you do not need to hammer your mouse button or anything). After a few more redraw loops, the dialog should show, and you should also be able to see your map fine in the background. Now, close the dialog, then run the FFIX command. That should upgrade the paths of all those CD3 houses in the drawing, and hopefully put an end to the loops too.
