Struggling with TRACED Command

I am trying to create a vector symbol, and as part of that, I want to turn some drawn lines into a solid polygon.
I thought the TRACED command might be an easy way to do it. I set the parameters of the polygon I wanted to create (color yellow, line width 0, line style solid, fill style solid), typed "TRACED," selected each of the four sides, right clicked and selected Do It, kept the settings in the dialog box at the defaults, and then...nothing appeared to happen.
Any thoughts on (a) what I'm doing wrong with the TRACED command, or (b) a better approach for turning these lines into a solid polygon?

I'm not sure why TRACED didn't work for you in this particular instance, though I suspect that if it had worked it might have traced around each of the lines and not the whole shape.
Providing there are still only those 4 lines there and nothing else, have you tried right clicking the Fractalize button and using Line To Path on all 4 lines at the same time?
Yes, I think the TRACED command might have traced around each line. Didn't know about the Fractalize option! Just tried it, and it appeared to work on the blue lines, but the green lines disappeared.
The blue lines were made by drawing an oval and then making breaks and deleting the portions I didn't want. The green lines were made by creating an arc, duplicating it with the TOFFSET command, and then making breaks and deleting the unwanted portions. Here are screencaps of the List pages:

Oh yes. Arcs are a bit strange that way. There's a relatively recent thread somewhere here on the forum that deals with converting them to paths before they will cooperate properly. I will see if I can find it.
This might help.

Also, if you need to use TRACED in the future you might have to do this:

Thank you, I will try that.
That didn't quite work for me but I managed to change something about the lines that allowed me to create the polygon using the regular TRACE command (not TRACED). Still a bit of a mystery, but I somehow got where I needed to be in the end. Thank you!
