new update broken towers - isometric city
Ricko
🖼️ 112 images Mapmaker
I downloaded it again and installed the new update (broken towers) and it didn't request a repair, it installed as if it hadn't been installed the first time.
Once I close cc3 and open it again, the new icons do not appear in any Symbol Catalogs Settings subfolder and I do not know where these images are in my cc3, as they do not appear in any isometric cities folder.
Cheers

Sorry, Ricko. I didn't see this till now.
If the solution that Ralf gave on this thread doesn't work for you it's probably best to contact Tech Support for help.
Looks like I have the same problem.
Does not work to me Sue, i dont find the files in ALL my program files/cc3 :/
ive instaled one time, another one and files dont appear - like they are not instaled.
Is this the name of the file ?
SS6C_Monthly 8.FSC
This one seems intact to me.
something strange is happening, I can't find the ruins symbols in my Mike Schley isometric either
I did a search on my hard drive, Symbols folder, using just Monthly.
I got 3 folders and 29 files.
Ricko - when did you re-download the monthly symbols installer? Could it have been just before Ralf uploaded the repaired installer?
I have the ruins walls on my computer, but when i started the map for my city, they did not appear on the button with all the other catalogs - not as separate, or as monthly - only month 1-7 turned up.
Note: The screen shot is missing the top catalog, Bridges
Do we have to redownload SS6 to reinstall it?
I'm not sure, Quenten.
I was the guineapig for testing a modified installer, which worked for me, so I assumed it was uploaded for everyone else, but now I'm not sure if if it was or not. Maybe there was another problem with it that I don't know about.
If you've both re-downloaded and re-installed it very recently, like in the last 12 hours or so, and it's still not working then its still broken. I suggested to Ricko that he contact Tech Support somewhere above. That may be the way to go.
EDIT: I'm talking about the monthly free symbols installer here, not the SS6 one. The SS6 one is fine.
I have the symbols installed, and can use them OK. They just don't appear on the catalog submenu in SS6 proper.
After downloading and installing the latest update again, this time it asked for repair and I selected that option.
The installation went without any problems. When choosing to open the isometric city program at the end of the installation, the new example map appears - as usual - this map presented the isometric icons of the walls with a rotational option with each hit of the tab key.
However, once I "leave" this part and go, for example, to vegetation... and again I come back choose the walls and this time they appear as in the photo - icon by icon - without the rotational option.
Thankx Sue <3
same thing is happening to RUINS isometric. Before it wasn't appearing (after I installed the last update) and now when the destroyed walls appear, they appear again... even though they don't have the same rotation option when you import them
From your screenshot it looks to me like when you are loading the symbol catalog, you are going into the artwork folder itself, picking an image and hitting OK instead of loading the .FSC file in the parent directory.
The reason this is important is that all such settings are store in the symbol catalog file (the .fsc). Going into the artwork folder and picking an image is an alternate way of getting the images into the symbol catalog window that is best suited for when you have a folder full of artwork that has NOT been made for CC3+, i.e. it doesn't come with a symbol catalog file. But loading it this way just loads them as "dumb" images, nothing of the smartness of the CC3+ symbols will come with.
So for any official or properly prepared CC3+ symbols, always load it through the symbol catalog file, not the artwork folder.
Now that I found the ruins in the isometric, I was able to complete my cursed village 😎
When I select via symbol catalog settings both - new walls and ruins do not appear as an option. so the option I found to import is via option / folder.
I just checked mine, and I see SSC6_Monthly 8.fsc below number 7.
It seems lots of people are getting quite different errors, and others getting none. I wonder what the problem is?
I always install as administrator.
Same here Jim. Still have it missing from the catalog list when I start a new map in SS6
I just tried clicking on the icon for SS6, upper row in CC3+.
I then click upper left on the icon for 'Catalog symbol settings' and it isn't in there. I then load any of the ones in that window, then click on the right hand column/browse under Options, I can see it.
Oh, clicking on the Catalog symbol settings moves symbol selection to that folder.
Aha ! But when I go to the Catalog Symbol selection on the left side of CC3+, it shows in the list of fsc files i can select.
So there is a difference between the two Catalog symbol selection icon/requestors.
When I select via symbol catalog settings both - new walls and ruins do not appear as an option. so the option I found to import is via option / folder.
Yes, you have to go through Open Symbol Catalog to open it if it doesn't show up in the list of catalog settings, but once you click that button and get the Symbol Catalog dialog, you have two options, either find the .FSC file for the catalog (@Symbols\Cities\SS6\MS Color\SS6C_Ruins.FSC) and open that, which is the right approach and loads the actual catalog with all the symbol behavior, OR navigate all the way into the artwork directory (@Symbols\Cities\SS6\MS Color\Ruins) pick an image file, and hit ok, which is the non-optimal way, as it will just populate the symbol catalog window with the images in the folder without any symbol behavior like grouping, because all that is stored int he symbol catalog file.
Pity it isn't on the catalog button, like all the other symbols - could this be fixed, or is there way to do it?
Could be a mnu file, but I don't like messing with those.
The problem remains the same, it requires a little more work without the easiness of auto rotation, but it is operational
