conflict with explorer.exe during setup
Hello,
New here, I'm experiencing a problem during the setup of CC3. At first all goes well, then, about halfway through the software setup, explorer.exe stops, restarts, and so on, without stopping, making it impossible to use the PC. However, the setup seems to finish normally. Explorer.exe keeps restarting and interrupting itself. I have to go through the task manager to uninstall CC3. And while the PC is in the process of uninstalling CC3, everything returns to normal, explorer.exe calms down and the PC returns to normal use.
I've looked for explanations for this problem, but haven't found anything. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

I've not heard of that before reading your comment, but there are some things you can try.
Or, if you would rather not try that first off, please log into your Profantasy account on the main web page and contact Tech Support using the Support tab.
As a note here that has nothing to do with CC3 or its installation I was recently suffering the same problem with Explorer nearly every time there was a Win 11 update. The update would go wrong and I would have to go through a series of convoluted steps to uninstall the update before I could get anywhere with the PC at all.
After several frustrating incidents of this kind I discovered the cause was a free third party app I had installed in order to have my Start Toolbar at the top of the screen where I have always prefered it. Win 11 removed that option. Once I uninstalled that app everything was fine again. Unfortunately, I now have to accept that the toolbar will be forever at the bottom of my screen where its a counfounded nuisance.
If you have installed any third party software to modify the way Win 11 works for you, it might be an idea to try uninstalling it just to see if it cures the problem.
Thank you for your comments. I'm actually still in Windows 10, my PC has not yet updated.
I'll see these options.
I have 2 PCs and much prefer Win 10 on the older machine. If it was possible to run Win 10 on this new machine I would.
Let us know how it goes if you try the suggested remedy above?
I'm trying that, right now ;-)
This option does'nt work, unfortunately.
I'll contact the Tech Support, as you suggest.
Thanks a lot again.
Thanks for letting me and others reading this thread know what happened.
I'm sure TS will be able to sort it out quite quickly. They're at Gen Con right now but the response is normally very fast.
I'll keep you posted on their response and any further developments, of course. Thanks again.
That's very kind of you. Thank you :)
For the very first time, I had lots of popup queries from Microsoft about the downlad of this month's annual. I wonder if ProFantasy needs to know this?
We know about it, and it's not related to this problem.
The current annual issue isn't code-signed. Windows will be a little fussy at installation. Ralf left for Gen Con just hours after he published it, so he will fix it when he gets back. In the meantime you can get around it by overriding the warnings.
I'm glad I stayed away from win 11. I haven't heard of explorer interfering before.
There are lots of little changes in Win 11, Jim. I don't like most of them myself but it is a personal preference thing. Not letting me put the Start bar where I want is the worst of it from my point of view, but maybe I'm just an old stuck-in-the-mud sort of person who got too used to Win 10 ;)
An all stuck in the mud would prefer DOS :P
I got an answer from the Technical Support. They sent to me an alternate version of CC3, but it didn't work either, unfortunately.
That was quick!
Have you let them know it didn't work?
yes of course ;-)
And yeah, very quick ! :D
It seems it never happened before
That is very strange. I have to say I've never heard of anything like that with CC3 myself.
But they will sort it out. Don't worry.
Very strange indeed.
