I expect we will approach the 1000 map mark for the Atlas very soon. perhaps the competition could be to do a detailed map of a site in one of the regional maps? (sort of like the concept of a building in a city map for the last competition, only involving sites including settlements, or battle maps etc). Obviously, i offer up one of my own maps LOL especially in Artemisia eg city States of Irisia, Themisia or Elen Daelarion.
Why limit it to one area. Let the mappers pick any place that has a developed map already. Nothing against filling out Quenten’s areas but someone might have an idea for a map but it doesn’t quite work in the single selected area but might work elsewhere. Just my 2 cents worth.
Mosen the map you use here as an example from Sue I think is amazing. So much detail on that one street and the houses all seem to fit but are unique. I would love to see Sue's technique in creating this street with the sisters.❤️
I am having real internet problems, and can't get my internet to work well at all. So I am going to ask @Monsen to add this map to the Atlas - in southern berenur.
it's been a long while since i dropped a map into the Atlas, so i thought i'd find a spot for one of my already made maps that would qualify.....I did this village in Sue's Darklands City style. I think it would go well in this map, as there is no water source and many of the villages found on regional maps are situated along waterways. Remy, can you place this village here in Berenur -
No, that's fine, but you shouldn't grab the navigation bar from an existing map. I customize that thing for every map. Just make your map normally without it. I'll add it myself when I process the map for inclusion into the atlas.
Copied from the main map, then had to resize so the scale is correct.
That sounds a bit weird to me. Since the scale is already correct in the source map, no resizing should be required. (Unless you are talking about the resizing the map border, since the map area of the original map would be way to large to just map a small portion.)
As Quenten said, just go ahead. I won't register the claim in the atlas right now, but there shouldn't be anyone else desiring that area presently.
One hint about that area though, even if it is a small area of Doriant, Doriant is a huge continent, so that area is pretty large. About 500 by 350 miles, or 175 000 square miles, almost the size of the entire country of France, or a bit larger than the entire US state of California. The lake is about the size of Lake Ontario. Keep that scale in mind when deciding which features will realistically show up on the map. Those red dots on the continent map would represent some of the biggest cities around, capitals and metropolises.
@Monsen I see your point. After setting up the FCW, I did see that the scale is huge. I want to do something like this on a much smaller scale: an area around a smaller lake in a temperate, wooded area.
Perhaps the area in the west of this section at the confluence of the river draining the big lake and the river flowing south. It has a large city, but I suppose I could add a smaller lake without ruining the world map. What do you think about that?
If you want a smaller area, I suggest you look at an area on one of the existing regional maps rather than straight on the continent map. That should allow you to find something more akin to the scale it sounds you are looking for. Or you can make 2 maps, do this larger scale one, and then develop a section of that map further on the second map.
But as for adding features like a lake, of course. The basic premise with any atlas is that there will always be features that are too small to appear on the higher level maps, that will only appear on a detail. Main idea here is to just keep it small enough that it wouldn't realistically appear on the world map (Which in general would mean smaller than any lake that do appear on that map.) But do make sure to add lots of interesting features, that's part of the fun, and allows other mappers to make interesting detail maps from your map.
@Monsen I hear you. I think that it would be better for me, as a newbie, to work on something smaller and more specific. What do you think about this area from The Southern Scar in Alarius? It is 80x60 mi.
Looks fine to me. Most important is that you pick an area that looks interesting to you, I don't think there is really any difference in difficulty, it is more up to you if you wish to map a large scale or medium scale location. Making the maps won't be that different, it is more about being aware of what details reasonably fits in each scale of maps.
Hi @Monsen! I know you are out now, but when you return, can I claim the area marked in blue on the west coast of Dóriant to work on? It's 1000 x 1000 miles.
If it helps, here's a copy of the FCW with the area marked. (Is that helpful?)

We'll see. It is a little bit away still....

i have new zone 🤣
I've posted the page link for the Atlas on the Troll Lord forums.
Some new maps for the atlas by @Quenten.
The Dragon Dungeon I'm working on.
I think I'll put this dungeon on Forlorn Archipelago, The Bleakness, Plains of Ash. That looks like Dragon Country to me.
Probably somewhere between River Muck words and the words Plains of Ash.
Please reserve it for me.
edit: to be a bit more accurate, here is a screen shot. Probably near that stone, unless Quenten objects.
Amazing work.

deleted by Jim ,way off wrong data. My apologies.
I would like to do the Arum Suth region of Berenur, as pictured below, in the upcoming January Style

Mostly my posted updates there, but others have expressed thanks.

Turia Uldar Region?
Thanks @Lorelei , the map is now in the atlas
I am working on a contribution to the Atlas.
On the Doriant continent the Panuar region. (just want to make sure to reserve this region)
Copied from the main map, then had to resize so the scale is correct.
Are there any other things I need to do?

@Monsen , can I reserve Hermit Island in Alarius to do - while I am in an island mood.
Enjoy. It was originally reserved by someone else back in 2020, but I never heard anything more from them, so I consider it available.
Great.
Hello. This is my first community atlas attempt. I think I'm supposed to request a reservation here.
I'd like to work on the lake and confluence between Erelenil and Duin Elisyr. Thank you.
Remy is on holidays, but noone else has claimed it, so I think you can safely go ahead with that.
Thanks for joining in @Kertis Henderson

Could I also have the little bit to the north of this that is unmapped?
