Little square to choose cursor

Hey folks I was mapping along. Copying one portion of a map and pasting it into a new one when suddenly I couldn't use any tools that use the little box to choose object anymore. It won't come up on this map or any other maps. I've restarted computer and still no luck. Anyone know what's goin on?

Sounds like your selection method may be off.

Go to Tools --> Options --> Select Method --> Dialog or Popup

Wow thanks Monsen! How did that happen? What kind of accidental button mashing did I do to turn that off?

The most common cause for it is that some function was running a macro that didn't complete properly. Macros usually have to change the select method because they want to select things programmatically, not by clicking on your screen.
