Can you change an existing fill into a varicolored one?

The title says it all, “Can you change an existing fill into a varicolored one?”

I am wanting to change a default land fill in a single color into a varicolored one. Can I do that and if so, how do I do that?

Fills doesn't support varicolor, only symbols do that. And if you want to swap an existing symbol with a varicolor one, you can use the Replace option in the symbol manager.

Thanks, that was what I thought, but wasn't sure.

You can, however, use a Hue/Saturation Lightness sheet effect to change the colour of the polygons on that sheet.
