Hang up saving since latest update

So, since the latest update i've been getting hung up for EXTREMELY long periods of time here (see pic below). I have saved at this high resolution without a problem a few days ago before i updated. Anyone else finding this lag on a high res save?

Does it eventually finish?
I noticed you don't see the progress on the converting step either. Are you on Windows 7 by chance?
Anyhow, that final conversion step can be sped up quite dramatically by manually replacing imagemagik with the 64-bit version and removing memory limits (assuming you have some spare memory), see this post.
I ask, because I am also very unsure of doing this myself, and would rather just wait until it happens anyway - if its going to.
EDIT: Alternatively, is there a way of rolling back the updates until a point just before the update that slowed everything down. And if there is, what will we sacrifice by going back to that earlier state?
That's why I'm trying to find a solution with you
Maybe there could be some more detailed and precise instructions prepared for us simpletons to follow - ones that wouldn't scare the pants off both you and me
A recovery point.
Good thinking, Lorelei.
(and what a shame I never had the foresight to do it myself! LOL!)
EDIT: What about reinstalling CC3+ from your last downloaded installation file? And then only updating to the point just before the problem occurred - if you still have all the update installations.
I know it will take some time, but if the restore won't work for you....
(The reason I say to disable anti-aliasing all-together is because that means part of the process can be completely skipped. Just lowering it will improve the performance, but will still mean that this step of the process needed to be run)
Also do note that the necessary bugfixes I mentioned above related to the rendering part (all those lines saying 'Rendering sheet: YYYY'), and isn't related to anything happening after you see the line "Converting to final format...". I don't know why that part is slower than before (unless you use different anti-aliasing settings)
Come to think of it the default setting at 66% is absolutely HUGE amount of antialiasing. I remember turning it way down to just 20% for my last map because it was actually beginning to make the output look a bit fuzzy to my eyes.
Why oh WHY I didn't think of that before Remy mentioned it I have absolutely no idea!
I'm so sorry Lorelei!
If you need to antialias the exported image, just open it in GIMP and go to Filters/Enhance/Antialias, and its done in a matter of seconds
Install the program.
Copy some files.
Open a file.
Copy and paste the 4 lines. You can copy it right from the forum thread.
I nearly did it, but when I carried on reading to the end of the thread I was a bit put off by the tech-speak you guys got into about the pros and cons of this or that version, and decided it would be too easy to make a mistake, and for everything to be much worse after I had made that mistake.
You know me - I have a totally literal brain. I've never been able to process any convoluted or hazy bits
Sorry, to sound snarky, but my point was that the whole point of an "update" is to address and fix issues with the program not cause new ones, and frankly an update that causes more issues and slows things down and require one to start downloading and making code changes, is not an effective update, in my opinion.
Is that any use?
(By the way, I limited it to 64-bit because that's what I'd got so it's the only one I'd done, and I didn't want to just make assumptions about how the rest works and send people up the wrong creek.)
If you need to know if your system is 64-bit, by the way, it's one of those things that's easy to find once you've been told what to do and very hard if you haven't. Go to your Windows settings (for example by holding the Windows key and pressing i), then click on the System button, then click on the About button at the bottom of the list on the left. You get a screen of information - under "Device specifications" there's a line beginning "System type". If it says "64-bit operating system", that's what you've got. It doesn't matter about the rest of that line.
Grr, it takes so much longer for someone to describe these things and then someone else to follow the description than it does to show or direct someone when you're in the same room!
It is much appreciated
We most certainly do not expect anyone to mess with the details of the Windows system and program installation to solve any technical issues! Always do only those things you feel comfortable with. Alternative solutions and technical help by the community is much appreciated though.
