I looked at your maps on your site. They are cool. Do you work in other map styles? and what kind of rates do you charge for your commission work?
I typically use aspects of various styles to meet the needs of the client based on their unique requirements.
If you are talking world or regional maps, the current styles that I have are:
1. 1930’s Overland
2. Ancient Realms
3. Empire of the Sun
4. Here Be Monsters
5. Realms of Legend
6. Scorching Sun
7. Woodcut
8. CC3 BW and Color
9. Classic Fantasy
10. Comic Book
11. DeRust
12. Dungeon World
13. Fantasy Hex
14. Herwin Wielink
15. Local Area
16. Midgard World
17. Mick Schley
18. Myrr Overland
19. Par Lindstrom BW
20. Sara Wroot
21. SS1 Series
If you have other styles that you would prefer, then I can get them. But, the cost of purchasing the needed annual would be built into the cost of the project.
I charge $20 per hour for business projects. The last project totaled $400 for a regional map. I was also paid $50 for additional work on the map that was not originally part of the scope-of-work agreement. It was for a marketing company in the Netherlands. I cannot show you the project as an example-of-work because the agreement was for the full rights to the project.
I can also do customer Iconography and place Character Artist work within maps. CA designs are $25 each. Custom iconography depends of the level of detail needed.
Below are examples of work that I have done using Character Artist with maps and Iconography.
Note: The underwater terrain was used with the express permission of Monsen who created the world for the ProFantasy Collaborative Project.
I may too be interested in doing a map for you, depending on what you are looking for.
Below you'll find some of my recent work.
Cheers,
Hadrian
What Rates would you charge for the map? I would like to understand your rates, to make a good decision between all these talented artists.
I am generally thinking about the style that is demonstrated in the Dworn map.
I too charge 20$/h for a map with a full commercial license. This means that you would be allowed to redistribute and resell the map as you please.
For a map like Dworn I will need somewhere between 5 and 8 hours. Maps with more details will of course take longer.
Cheers,
Hadrian
I attached the bridge pathway above to give you an idea of pallet of colors I would like.
Either of you interested in pursuing this project? If so, how many hours do you think it would be to complete a more detailed map like this?
Since this map appears to be larger than Dworn and seems to require more detail, I would budget about 12 hours. I am fairly confident that I would be able to do it in a shorter time, but I prefer to plan conservatively, so I have some reserves in case something takes longer than excpected.
In addition, if you want the style used for the Dworn map above (Jonathan Roberts Style), there would be an additional $40 charge since it is not an annual that I currently have.
HadrianVI is an excellent artist and has the particular style that you are interested in. If the particular style is the major factor, I would highly recommend him. That would be $240 compared to my $280 for the same style.
If you are looking for more detail, I am known for my detailed work, terrain effects and the ability to blend styles effectively to meet clients’ needs giving you more options.
Below are examples of all three:
You can go to http://atlas.monsen.cc/Maps/Kumarikandam and download the high resolution (53MB) map to fully explore the work put into it. Either way, I know that you will be satisfied with the work regardless of the artist that you pick and we hope that you recommend the artists on this forum and ProFantasy Software to others.
Sincerely,

For your purpose, I think the "Ancient Realms" Style might be a good choice as well (https://www.profantasy.com/annual/2015/october15.html). It comes with many nice icons, that could be used to indicate different steps or stages on the way to good leadership.
Also, the style does, in my opinion, nicely matches with the picture you posted.
Also, I can definately second Charles' statement about the details of his map and his abilities to blend different styles. So, if you would like to have a highly detailed map, then Charles would be the obvious first choice.
In case you would like to later print the map in a large formate (A1 or A0) a high level of details would certainly be beneficial.
Cheers,
Hadiran
I agree, Ancient Realms may be better at meeting your needs. It is at least worthy for your consideration. It is also a style that we both have. In addition, it has a icon template; so we could create custom icons for you if you need them.
Sincerely,
Charles W. Robinson
