Still trouble from FT to CC

I tried adjusting map size in CC3 but no matter what my FT png ends up looking like this.

When you use File>>Save As with an image type such as BMP, FT asks you for the size of the window to export. Enter your desired image width and check the "Keep Main Window Proportions" to export exactly what you see in the main window at the size specified, including empty space (that's the white stuff around the edges). If you adjust your main proportions to closely bound the visible parts of your map before you do this, the extra white space around the edges will be reduced. To perfectly remove the white space (it's very hard to do directly from FT), try using an image editing software package such as MS Paint to clip the white space away.

Thanks guys. Getting there. Can anyone give a simple solution so I don't have to erase every single bit of the frame with each new map?

What do you mean by frame ?

If map border, just delete it. Then save as to different filenames.

What you have posted is a fcw file with an embedded png file, which is on your hard drive.

I got the png from your earlier post and placed it into thefcw file I downloaded form here.

To make the map editable, you have to trace over the png file, it should be on its own layer and sheet, and use it as a guide.

Once you get the map layers and sheets to match your png, you can delete the png.

I think I have a tutorial for this process on my web site, I'll check.

Here it is, in 4 parts, starting with this linked article. Just ignore part 4 of the tutorial.

JimP thanks. That deleting system will work great. I don't need the map itself to be editable in fact that's the exact opposite of what I'm trying to accomplish. I want all the ping detail with just a few bits of added detail like cities etc as these will be small maps inside a hardcover book or books (if my agent can hook a publishing house as this is a bit outside my usual genre).

So, it's getting there. These are going to be great for book maps. I'm building this one as I revise book one of my series The Altmage Wars and it really is helping to visualize distances and time frames.
