CA3+ Traveller Portrait Project

A friend of mine asked me to do a Traveller (Science Fiction) version of the 13e Régiment de Dragons Parachutiste (13e rdp) wearing black and green "night" armor for a female NPC.

Nice. Clever use of the existing content to create something modern! Nice beret, too.

If I may make a suggestion? Maybe consider an edge fade for the dark cammo on the middle of her face? Having spent years wearing the stuff myself, i can vouch for how much the colors blend. Also, maybe add a thin white/light-colored poly with a transparency & glow effect to the bridge of her nose. Maybe a touch on her lips or cheeks.

Having an elite airborne unit in Traveller is reminiscent of Heinlein's Stormship Troopers. Cool.

    Bravo, sir.

I'm so happy most of my time in the military was spent as an officer in the Navy (1996-2003). My experiences with running around in camouflage carrying weapons in the forest are thankfully few and far between. It was really never my preferred style of life. Most probably because I am just to damn lazy. :) Not to mention my skin didn't agree with the camouflage stuff.
  • Shouldn't surprise me that there are a ton of vets here, seems we congregate unconsciously. Great conversion, I didn't know what the program was capable of and that really makes me want to get it now.
    Oh, and U.S.N. SeaBees 2004-2012 40th Battalion & 303 Maintenance.

i spent 6 years in the US Navy, 4 years aboard a destroyer. Storms at sea are not fun.

Haven't sailed nearly as much as you, but that sentence does bring back some memories.

Sorry for derailing your thread Charles, but your subject matter just brought up so many interesting memories. I really did like the portrait though.
  • Thanks Monsen!

As a veteran, you can derail any time. ;-)
