CC3+ Startup error and no symbols
Hello all,
I just clean installed CC3+ and update 9 on my new travel computer.
Lenovo Yoga 11e 64bit with 8 megs of ram.
The install went fine but, when I start the program I get the:
Error 00000007E loading XP module:
Effects.dll
It will start but none of the symbols show up in the menu or on an actual map. I verified the map and it does indeed have symbols.
I have installed the update (9), tried compatibility mode for Win 8, 7 and XP.
Installed without my anti-virus on.
Installed as admin (saw in another post it wasn't necessary but...)
I have done general searches but, haven't found anything to assist so far.
I am traveling and will have tons of time but, no CC3... Arrrgh.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Mike
P.S. Has anyone ever mentioned CC as being cathartic? It is so relaxing just piddling and making something that looks nice an object at a time. Thanks for that.
(wrong category. Sorry about that. I should have paid more attention)

Since you mention compatibility mode, that is not required for CC3(+).
Note that for such technical issues, you may also get better/faster support by contacting ProFantasy Technical support directly (Well, probably not until they get back to work on monday though).
Download and install the Visual Studio re-distributable found here (use the x86 version "vcredist_x86.exe", even if you have 64-bit system).
That should fix the effects.dll issue.

Use the 32-bit version (x86), even if you have a 64-bit system since CC3+ is a 32 bit program.
Well, I guess I'll just have to blame it on the fact that I am dead tired and on my way to bed.
Wonderful!
I had indeed installed the 64bit redistributables but, had not tried the x86.
Thank you so much for the quick assist.
Monsen,
I still love ya man! Get some sleep.
Again, thanks all.
