Is there a way to make a detail map of a portion of a previously made map?
I've made a continental map that I'm happy with. I want to make a country map of a portion of the continental map. Is there a way to do this that's not too complicated?
Right now I'm just thinking of making a .jpg with the continental map and making a smaller .jpg from that and importing it to a new sheet with a transparency of 30%. Anyone know of an easier / better way of doing this?

Personally, I prefer to copy the entities from the larger map, trimming them to the new map, and using tools like fractalize to add additional details. This can be a bit more work, again depending on what your needs are, but this gives you a copy of the original entities, and not just an image to trace by. The basic operations you need to do this is explained in the CC3+ manual, page 58-59 in the current version.
It's done. I'm happy with the results. Now I'm on to the next project.
Thanks for all the help, even if I'm not smart enough to use it.
Its not that your 'not smart enough'. Its just that learning CC3 takes a bit more time because its a very powerful and complex tool. I think there are only a couple of people who know how to do anything and everything with CC3 (I'm still learning)
