designing a Galaxy with Cosmographer

I need to build a galaxy with cosmographer, which will be for a RPG with a lot of alien races and cultures so it needs to show star systems of each race, kind of like in Mass Effect. I have the software and want to know what style people recommend for this even if its in an annual. Want the map to look really good something like the image attached.

It depends a bit how you want to do that. The most fancy part of that map is the background galactic image. If you already have such a galaxy image to use for the background, the rest is trivial. If you want to draw the spiral yourself, you are in for quite a bit more work, especially if you want it as detailed as the one in that example map.
In either case, I think a good starting point is the Cosmographer Galactic style from COS3, it is designed to work on a galactic scale. And even if it is a bit blue in coloration by default, it is easy to add more coloration if you want.
